Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior Tax Lawyer with a strong background in handling complex tax matters specifically related to Puerto Rico. The ideal candidate should possess in-depth knowledge of Puerto Rican tax laws and regulations, with a focus on navigating challenging tax scenarios. As a Senior Tax Lawyer, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic guidance to clients, ensuring compliance, and mitigating tax risks.

Responsibilities:

Tax Advisory Services: Provide expert advice on Puerto Rican tax laws and regulations to clients. Analyze and interpret complex tax issues, offering creative and effective solutions. Collaborate with clients to optimize their tax positions and minimize liabilities. Compliance and Reporting: Oversee the preparation and filing of accurate and timely tax returns for clients. Ensure compliance with all relevant Puerto Rican tax laws and regulations. Develop and implement strategies to address any potential compliance challenges. Tax Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies for clients. Stay abreast of changes in tax laws and proactively advise clients on potential impacts. Work closely with clients to identify opportunities for tax optimization and risk mitigation. Transactional Support: Provide tax support for mergers, acquisitions, and other business transactions. Conduct due diligence to identify potential tax implications of transactions. Structure deals to optimize tax outcomes for clients. Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their business needs. Act as a trusted advisor, providing strategic tax guidance aligned with client objectives. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor junior tax professionals within the organization. Provide training and guidance to enhance the team's overall tax expertise.

Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the Puerto Rico Bar. Minimum of 10 years of experience as a tax lawyer with a focus on Puerto Rican tax matters. Strong understanding of both federal and local tax laws applicable to Puerto Rico. Proven track record of handling complex tax issues and providing effective solutions. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with clients and internal teams. Prior experience in transactional tax work and mergers and acquisitions is a plus.
