Senior Tax Manager

Job Summary

The Senior Tax Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with all state tax laws and regulations related to Sales, Income, Business & Property Tax as well as optimizing our tax strategies to minimize liabilities and maximize financial efficiency.

Essential Functions

Preparation and oversight of the state income tax accounting process, including ensuring all state income tax related accounts are recorded accurately and in accordance with IFRS including monthly, quarterly and year-end payable reconciliations, current and deferred income tax provision calculations, preparation of the state effective tax rate (SETR), income tax reserves and other state account reconciliations.

Preparation of complex state income tax returns, for Eisai legal entities, consolidated group unitary returns, and state partnership returns Preparation and review of unitary calculations, state apportionment, credits and incentives, estimate and extension payments.

 Review/prepare partnership and corporate state income tax returns including all related analyses and support.

Assist in the preparation and review of the annual and quarterly state income tax provision under IAS 12 and all related assumptions, analyses, and disclosures. Includes management and coordination with finance and accounting departments, along with collaboration with external service providers.

Assist in the preparation of the state cash tax forecast for the company.

Preparation of quarterly corporate state income tax estimates.

Prepare and manage personal property tax, business tax license renewals, state/municipal gross receipts tax, sales & use tax filings, and other indirect tax filings as required for the Company.

Manage and oversee audits of state income tax, sales tax and other local filings including responses to tax notices to various US jurisdictions.

Conduct tax research and work on projects to minimize tax burden and reduce the Work with tax team members on various special projects such as research tax credit study, corporate minimum tax, etc. Company’s effective tax rate and cash taxes.

Identify, research and analyze state tax issues and planning opportunities.

Provide support to the finance, accounting and legal departments regarding non-income tax matters, such as personal property tax, business tax license renewals, sales & use tax, etc.

Maintain an effective internal control environment to ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and JSOX regulations.

Adopt new tax software and implement processing changes as required.

Manage relationships with internal departments, external service providers and other consulting resources.

Monitor and ensure adherence to internal tax policies and procedures

Manage the Unclaimed Property Reporting (AUP).


Qualifications:

10+ years of experience focused on U.S. domestic tax compliance and U.S. corporate income tax with a public accounting firm and/or corporate tax department.

Strong and solid knowledge of U.S. corporate state income tax, sales & use taxes, local state taxes

Experience with tax compliance and provision related software is a plus (OTP, OSA).

Experience in Partnership income tax compliance and reporting requirements a plus.

Bachelor degree in Accounting, MS in Tax or CPA preferred.

Strong computer skills including MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Detail-oriented with strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Strong project management and organizational skills to managing projects involving external advisors, auditors, regional finance, and business teams.

Proven track record to meet various deadlines associated with day-to-day responsibilities alongside special project-work.

Self-starter with the ability and willingness to exercise independent judgment and take appropriate action
