**39334BR** **Extended Job Title:** Senior Teacher **Org Level 1:** Texas Tech Unv Hlth Sci Ctr El Paso **Position Description:** Performs instructional and educational work while serving as a teacher in a classroom/lab. Organizes and develops course work, coordinates classes for students, observes and assesses the needs of the students. Maintains communication both formally and informally with students and other educators. May supervise clerical, professional and/or technical employees and lab students working for college credit. **Requisition ID:** 39334BR **Travel Required:** Up to 25% **Major/Essential Functions:** + Participate in medical skills course administration and instruction for the pre-clerkship phase (years 1-2) of the medical school curriculum + Work closely with other faculty members to develop and deliver an integrated curriculum which blends basic science and clinical concepts throughout the educational program + Employ a variety of teaching methods including case-based instruction, large and small-group discussion, lecture, demonstration, simulation, and team-based learning + Develop and administer simulated patient cases in a variety of formats including standardized patients scenarios, virtual patients, computer simulations and skill assessment activities. + Provide small group instruction on a variety of clinical skills such as venipuncture, phlebotomy, urinary catheterization, wound care, NG tube insertion, and other skills + Provide formative and summative assessment of medical student performance through a variety of methods including the development and implementation of objective structured clinical examinations (OSCEs), and rubric-guided grading of clinical skills with narrative feedback + Provide training and support and instruction to standardized patients to help them optimize their presentation of each clinical case. + Provide one-on-one support, feedback, and advising to individual medical students. + Work collaboratively with the staff of the Center for Advanced Teaching and Assessment in Clinical Simulation (ATACS) to facilitate an organized delivery of the Medical Skills course + Participate in the organization and performance of educational research which might include assisting with study design, data gathering, data organization, IRB application, manuscript writing and editing, and manuscript submission. + Engage in scholarship, clinical service, and academically-related public service + Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies| procedures and processes. + Personally demonstrate| display| and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP's values (Service| Respect| Accountability| Integrity| Advancement| and Teamwork). + Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution. + Perform all other duties as assigned. **Grant Funded?:** No **Minimum Hire Rate:** salary commensurate with related education, experience and/or skills **Pay Basis:** Monthly **Work Location:** El Paso **Preferred Qualifications:** + Training or experience in curriculum development, medical skills instruction, and performance evaluation of medical students + Experience with innovative teaching methods such as interactive large and small group formats, team-based learning, case-based learning, and problem-based learning + Experience with standardized patients and/or clinical simulation + Participation in national organizations or committees devoted to medical or health professions education + Interest in medical or health professions education scholarship. + No experience required. + Master’s degree in education or a health profession + Prior work experience in a clinical setting with educational responsibility + Good organizational skills and problem solving skills + Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills + Excellent oral and written communication skills + Evidence of scholarship (peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, presentations) **Campus:** HSC - El Paso **Department:** Clinic and Basic Sciences Elp **Required Attachments:** Cover Letter, Resume / CV, Transcript **Job Type:** Full Time **Pay Statement:** Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as, the institutional pay plan.
