Senior Technical Consultant

 

As a Data Modeler, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining data models that support the organization's data management and analytics initiatives. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements, translate them into data models, and ensure the integrity, consistency, and efficiency of the organization's data assets. 

 Responsibilities: 

Data Modeling: Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models that capture the organization's data requirements and business rules. Translate business requirements into data models that adhere to best practices and standards.   Database Design: Collaborate with database administrators, data engineers, and other stakeholders to translate data models into physical database schemas. Define tables, columns, indexes, constraints, and relationships to optimize data storage, retrieval, and performance.  Data Governance: Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and guidelines related to data modeling, metadata management, and data quality. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.  Data Analysis: Analyze existing data structures, systems, and processes to identify opportunities for improvement. Recommend enhancements to data models, database designs, and data management practices to support evolving business needs.  Collaboration: Work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, data scientists, and application developers to understand data requirements, resolve data-related issues, and ensure alignment between data models and business objectives.  Documentation: Document data models, database designs, data dictionaries, and other artifacts to facilitate knowledge sharing, collaboration, and future maintenance. Maintain documentation in a clear, organized, and accessible manner.  Quality Assurance: Perform quality assurance checks on data models to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Validate data models against business requirements and perform impact analysis on proposed changes.  Performance Tuning: Identify performance bottlenecks in data models and database designs. Collaborate with database administrators and data engineers to optimize query performance, index usage, and data retrieval efficiency.  Training and Education: Provide training, mentorship, and guidance to junior data modelers, data analysts, and other team members. Share knowledge and best practices related to data modeling, database design, and data management. 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field.  Proven experience as a Data Modeler, Data Architect, or similar role in data management and analytics.  Proficiency in data modeling tools and techniques (e.g., ER/Studio, ERwin, PowerDesigner).  Strong understanding of relational database concepts, SQL, and database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).  Experience with dimensional modeling, NoSQL databases, and big data technologies is a plus.  Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.  Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.  Knowledge of data governance principles, data quality management, and regulatory compliance requirements.
