Senior Technical Editor & Content Strategist

We are hiring a Senior Technical Editor & Content Strategist to develop, edit, and evaluate cybersecurity-focused content for a government organization. This role requires a seasoned editor with cybersecurity expertise who can assess technical accuracy, strategic alignment, and overall effectiveness of cybersecurity publications. The ideal candidate will ensure that content supports broader messaging strategies, aligns with agency priorities, and is delivered in the most effective format for the intended audience.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead technical editing, ensuring all content aligns with CISA’s strategic objectives and supports broader cybersecurity initiatives.Evaluate content beyond copyediting, assessing product type, messaging, and format for the target audience and strategic goals.Identify opportunities for content optimization and work with SMEs to refine technical accuracy, enhance clarity, and ensure consistency.Ensure technical documentation aligns with evolving cybersecurity threats, best practices, and frameworks such as NIST, MITRE ATT&CK, and Secure by Design.Support the coordination and release of cybersecurity products, ensuring seamless integration with ongoing campaigns and initiatives.

Editorial Leadership:

Develop and maintain editorial best practices, standardizing review processes and ensuring quality control.Assist in content development, collaborating with federal leads to refine messaging and enhance its effectiveness.Maintain familiarity with agency style guides to ensure consistency and compliance in all publications.

Required Qualifications:

US Citizenship required by contractBachelor’s degree5+ years of experience in technical editing, technical writing, or content strategy focused on IT, cybersecurity, or related technical fields.

Additional Qualifications:

Proven ability to conduct substantive technical edits on cybersecurity and IT-related documents.Experience evaluating content strategy for the right audience and format.Experience working with technical SMEs to refine cybersecurity content.Strong analytical skills to assess content for technical accuracy, clarity, and strategic alignment.Ability to synthesize complex cybersecurity concepts into clear, audience-appropriate messaging.Proficiency in Microsoft Office to produce consistent and uniform work products.Familiarity with common cybersecurity terminology, emerging threats, and best practices.Ability to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Content strategy experience, including evaluating content gaps, audience needs, and appropriate product types.Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks.Experience in the Federal government sector.Experience staging and publishing cybersecurity products using web management platforms like Drupal.

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.

The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:

$89,203.00 - $151,646.00
