What You'll Do Avalara is looking for a Senior Technical Lead to drive forward and oversee exciting new products. We are growing and evolving our products and are looking for motivated people to join us on this journey. A successful candidate will be a well-rounded, experienced technical lead with a proven track record of leading and enabling teams in the design, build and testing of enterprise level software solutions. Delivery of scalable and secure software solutions Harbour dependent technical expertise across multiple projects/teams Collaborate with various stakeholders (Product, Engineering, Security etc.) to establish solution specification and leverage deep technical knowledge to oversee execution Analyse current solutions and procedures to identify holistic areas for improvement Oversee and advocate for high technical standards Lead the development and maintenance of enterprise level engineering strategies Provide support and guidance for junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the organisation (force multiplier, drive components of multiple teams, up-level those around you) Communication of problems/solutions with VPs and other members of senior management What You'll Need to be Successful Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science Expert knowledge of C# (.NET) and other common languages (Java, JS) Expert knowledge of DevOps (AWS, CICD, TF, K8) Expert knowledge of source control tools such as GitLab Strong understanding of object-oriented design & development and common design patterns Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server/ any other RDBMS Strong knowledge of Entity Framework Strong knowledge of Web Services General Minimum of 12 years of experience in software delivery at an enterprise level Minimum of 3 years of experience at a Senior Technical Lead level Experience in leading teams and mentoring junior engineers to success Experience in providing constructive feedback (technical and non-technical) to ensure the best results for the company are met Experience in the communication of technical challenges and solutions to a wide range of audiences Experience working and liaising with various stakeholders (Product, Programme, Customer Support) Experience working within dispersed non co-located teams Experience in agile methodologies and processes Experience working with JIRA Technical Experience in complex solutions architecture design Experience in delivering microservice oriented software services Experience in delivering business value within the contraints of monolithic software applications Experience in the deployment of monitoring and alerting tools to enterprise level applications Experience in the development and maintenance of enterprise level engineering strategies Experience in analysing and troubleshooting complex issues and critical production problems Other Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent attention to detail Demonstrable high standards of excellence Track record of a high level of technical judgement, ownership, and execution Proven ability to make things happen and meet commitments How We'll Take Care of You Total Rewards In addition to a great compensation package, paid time off, and paid parental leave, many Avalara employees are eligible for bonuses.
