Senior Technical Program Manager, Devices and Services Sustainability Accelerator
Amazon.com
Amazon Devices is looking for a Sr TPM to help drive new, carbon-reducing technologies into our products, services and operations. The Sr TPM will play a pivotal role in defining and implementing product line strategies and initiatives to help new business areas decarbonize to reach net zero. They will also work cross-functionally across the Amazon Devices to develop and implement sustainability programs that will bring about measurable environmental benefits. The successful candidate must have a solid understanding of sustainability or hardware development to translate this knowledge into actionable initiatives for devices products. The successful candidate also has strong communication, analytical skills, and the ability to apply systems thinking to complex, fast moving problems. In this role, you’ll work across many groups, get broad exposure to the entire business and engage with external technology ventures. At the same time, in the midst of this big organization you will get the opportunity to have true ownership and effect real change to the product and the business.
Key job responsibilities
The ideal candidate should possess a strong program management background, have experience leading large/complex/cross-organizational projects, and have a well-rounded technical background.
As a Sr Technical Program Manager, your responsibilities will include writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, managing the production launch for a product/feature, and using metrics to provide status along the way. You will lead and coordinate design and implementation efforts, coordinating across multiple teams to develop optimal solutions. You will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.
Sr TPMs need to not only excel in operating at a strategic level but also need to understand when to dive deep to keep the project on track. Along with that, Sr TPMs need to clearly and concisely communicate, both verbally and in writing, with senior management on status, risks and required mitigations to maintain project commitments. Sr TPMs are expected to support the team in making appropriate trade-offs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams. This role is a good fit for someone creative, who has strong customer focus and product sense, combined with an established track record in consumer technology products.
