Senior Technical Program Manager
**About the Role** Join Uber’s Technical Program Management (TPM) team and be a leader in developing and driving impactful cross-org initiatives for the Maps and Marketplace platform organizations. Uber’s Maps and Marketplace technology is the foundation of every Uber ride and delivery made, it is the heart that makes us able to move the world. As a Technical Program Manager, you will work closely with product and engineering to build platforms, launch innovative features and new user experiences. In addition, you will be responsible for creating programs with Uber’s engineers to continuously improve the reliability, capability, and quality of our products. **What the Candidate Will Do:** - Work closely with engineering and product to conceptualize strategic initiatives and solutions and develop those into detailed program / project plans. - Project manage technical, complex, large scale, cross-team, cross-functional initiatives from planning to execution. - Accelerate execution velocity of programs and drive accountability by tracking progress, resolving dependencies, identifying issues, mitigating risks, and communicating status to key program stakeholders. - Understand technical implementation at the architecture level and propose technical alternatives when necessary. Develop broad domain and technical knowledge. - Engage, energize, and lead teams as an owner for high-impact initiatives. **Basic Qualifications:** - Proven experience of 5+ years as a TPM or Engineering Manager in a software, SaaS, or systems development environment with an overall experience of 8+ years. - Strong technical experience in platform development at scale. - Solid technical aptitude and an ability to understand technical designs, challenges, and risks. Engineers enjoy working closely with you. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills and exceptional emotional intelligence. - Proven strong cross-team and cross-org stakeholder management. Ability to influence, motivate, and align people across a broad variety of job functions through your relationships. - Strong organizational skills to juggle many tasks without losing sight of the highest priority items. - Analytical and truth seeking. Ability to understand complex concepts and make reasoned decisions objectively. - Data driven: Experience determining effective program KPI's and using them to measure program success and issues. Strong technical, analytical, and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to backup assumptions, recommendations, and drive decisions. - Experienced in project management. Familiar with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and able to apply them where best suited. - Detail oriented with the ability to thrive in fast paced, ambiguous environments where priorities are constantly evolving as the business grows and adapts globally. **Preferred Qualifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics, related quantitative subject area. - Developer experience, including writing, testing and deploying code. - Experienced with large-scale change management and implementing culture for engineering organizations. - Built standards and frameworks adopted by large engineering organizations. For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$171,000 per year - USD$190,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
