About you and this role:
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Service Laboratory Specialist aligned to Univation Technologies, LLC located in Calgary (Alberta, Canada).
This role will support Licensee Plant Lab Commissioning and Start-up and warranty run support and will involve a 2-to-3-week international travel on an annual basis.
Responsibilities:
Licensee Start Up/Performance Guarantee Support
Provide hands on training of Univation test methods on licensee’s equipment.
Validate test methods/equipment using reference samples.
Troubleshoot equipment/test methods.
Evaluate and determine feasibility of using equipment that differs from Univation’s lab equipment list.
Follow start up runs and modify licensee’s work practices to improve result turnaround time and communications between lab and process.
Monitor Performance Guarantee runs making sure samples are collected and testing is done as per contract agreement.
Collect samples to send back to the USA for further product evaluations.
Licensee Training
Provide in depth training to licensee’s laboratory personnel that includes details of test methods, set up of laboratory equipment, overview of the process and fundamentals of PE Product.
Provide high level lab training to licensee’s product/sales personnel.
New Catalyst/Product Support
Provide on-site support for new catalyst/products that have special lab requirements.
Review licensee’s existing equipment and test methods and make modifications as required.
Monitor run and provide feedback to both licensee and team members on any issues that may arise.
Collect samples to send back to USA for further product evaluations.
PE Standard Product List (PESPL)
Collect samples and maintain the PESPL database.
Provide feedback/recommend values on proposed performance guarantee tables.
Technology Manual
Update existing test methods as necessary.
Develop new test methods as necessary.
Maintain laboratory equipment list.
Preferred Qualifications/Skills:
Demonstrated expertise in an UNIPOL(TM) PE plant QC lab operation.
Technicians to support warranty runs.
Experience in preparation of a punch list and bringing the items to closure.
Laboratory Instrumentation: UNIPOL(TM) PE QC laboratory equipment and test methods experience.
Technical Services: Ability to apply current knowledge to provide technical advice to licensee’s QC lab.
Safety Mindset: Ability to identify safety issues and bring solutions.
Teamwork: Ability to work with others of varying backgrounds/nationalities.
Qualifications:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
A minimum 5-7 years of UNIPOL(TM) PE QC/Technical Service lab experience.
Must be able to fluently read, write, and speak English.
Must be willing and able to meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, public-health mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries worldwide. Travel Average will be 25%- 30% annually.
