Senior Technical Solutions Data Analyst

About Datadog:

We're on a mission to build the best platform in the world for engineers to understand and scale their systems, applications, and teams.  We operate at high scale—trillions of data points per day—providing always-on alerting, metrics visualization, logs, and application tracing for tens of thousands of companies. Our engineering culture values pragmatism, honesty, and simplicity to solve hard problems the right way.

The Team:

The Technical Solutions team enables Datadog's worldwide growth by educating potential clients and ensuring that existing customers are getting the most out of Datadog’s products. As a Senior Data Analyst in the Technical Solutions (TS) department, you will help Sales Engineering, Support Engineering, Technical Post Sales, and Technical Solutions Enablement teams be data driven in their day to day work in order for them to offer a first-class support experience for all Datadog customers. As part of this, you will overhaul all processes requiring data and analytics, and help initiate data-driven change. You will be part of the internal Technical Solutions Operations team and will join a broader Data Analyst community across the company and have the opportunity to grow and use cutting edge analytics tools.

What You’ll Do:

Develop a deep understanding of our Technical Solutions teams value proposition, operating models, internal systems and processes, and proactively identify opportunities to leverage data & analytics to help scale our operations. Partner with Technical Solutions leaders to define meaningful KPIs to measure the health of operations and the success of various programs and initiatives.  Build operational dashboards that surface actionable insights, allow for deep dive opportunities, and are optimized for a seamless user experience. Contribute to our data modeling later, leveraging DBT to update existing and develop new data models, optimized for self-serve analytics in our BI tool (Metabase). Run deep data analyses and investigations, and present actionable findings to peers, leaders, and executives. Train other employees to leverage data to answer questions without assistance.

Who You Are:

You have 7+ years of experience in Data & Analytics and have mastered data analysis and visualization using Business Intelligence tools such as Metabase, Looker, or Tableau. You are fluent in writing analytical SQL, are able to write complex queries with no assistance, and understand the difference between SQL that works and performant SQL. You have experience working with data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery and (bonus points) data modeling tools like DBT. You are a clear, concise communicator who is able to explain complex datasets or queries to non-technical people in understandable ways. You are curious and have an investigative mindset - driven to know “why”. You have experience working with large customer and product data sets. You are generally excited about partnering with internal customers to help them define their data needs and educate people on how to leverage data to make informed decisions and lead successful programs.
