Job Description:

Our business unit defines, designs, produces, and supports the PIC32 family of embedded microcontrollers.  Our embedded solutions serve a wide array of target markets and applications. We are seeking a highly skilled SoC Architect to support the development of PIC32 microcontrollers.

An SoC Architect is responsible for the definition of PIC32 microcontroller devices, which includes the SoC itself, the various peripherals, the embedded power system, the embedded memory system, and the operating modes it supports. The work output of an SoC Architect is documentation to support the various groups (design, verification, applications, validation, development tools, etc) in understand the product and its capabilities.  

Architects work as an individual but interact with and influence various functional teams within the business unit.  The task on any given day varies, but the key responsibility is to create detailed, low-level architectural specifications for the device and its components based on a firm understanding of the high-level product requirements. Ideal candidates have a long experience history performing a variety of engineering roles.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and define the architecture of complex SoC solutions.Definition of device pinoutsDefinition of power management system and featuresDefinition of device architecture and features for application and device securityDefinition of device or peripheral features for production testingDefinition of features for Safety Element out of Context (SEooC) microcontrollersDevelopment of Safety Concept documentation in support of a ISO26262 product development processLead and define the architecture of peripheral or deeply embedded IP.Definition of programming model.Definition of key interfaces.Definition of feature set and its description sufficient for all functional groups to useCollaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware, software, and verification engineers to define system requirements and specifications.Review, analysis, and provide feedback on analog IP and their requirements for integration in an SoCConduct feasibility studies and trade-off analysis to guide architectural decisions.Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams.Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure our SoC designs remain competitive and innovative.Participate in design reviews, providing critical feedback and ensuring adherence to design standards.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field15+ years work experience in a digital design and/or architectureExperience with at least one of: analog control, embedded power systems, SoC security, or direct MCU or PIC32C architectures.

Additional Preferred Experience

SoC or FPGA development using embedded CPU architectures such as ARM, MIPS, RISC-V, etc and standard systems buses.Familiar with requirement management systems such as Polarion.Experience Functional Safety development and analysis methods including for ISO-26262.Experience Cyber Security development and analysis methods including for ISO-21434.Experience with embedded flash or other NVM technologies.Experience with peripheral programming models and/or development of applications on an MCU.
