Job Description:

Microchip Technology Inc. is a leading provider of embedded control applications. Our product portfolio comprises general purpose and specialized 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit microcontrollers, 32-bit microprocessors, field-programmable gate array (FPGA) products, a broad spectrum of high-performance linear, mixed-signal, power management, thermal management, radio frequency (RF), timing, safety, security, wired connectivity and wireless connectivity devices, as well as serial Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EEPROM), Serial Flash memories, Parallel Flash memories, and serial Static Random Access Memory (SRAM). We also license Flash-IP solutions that are incorporated in a broad range of products.

Microchip Technology Inc. has a FPGA Program Manager opening based in San Jose, CA.  The successful candidate will be responsible for leading multiple development programs over multiple years, across multiple US and international sites. In this role, you will be coordinating and driving focused sub-systems to revolve critical issues during overall product development. You will identify and manage risks. You will be Tracking overall team progress, proposing and driving new methodologies to improve quality, pull in schedule, lower cost, and remove barriers to program execution.

Responsibilities:

Lead multiple development programs over multiple years, across multiple US and international sites.Create long- and short-term integrated program plans that take programs from feasibility to high volume production. Set targets for milestones and create schedules.Track overall team progress, proposing and driving new methodologies to improve quality, pull in schedule, lower cost, and remove barriers to program execution.Make effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with the project.Engage with marketing as well as engineering development to update plans in response to dynamic market requirements.Collaboratively define requirements, and track deliverables among a wide array of cross functional teams in different geographies.Coordinate and drive focused sub-teams to resolve critical issues that arise during overall development.Identify and manage program risks.Propose and drive new methodologies to improve quality, pull in schedule, lower cost, and remove barriers to program execution.Identify and manage program risks. Identify opportunities that can positively influence program performance and company culture.Communicate both in written and verbal form, program status, challenges, and requests to management and senior executives.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field15+ years of experience in silicon development, program management and/or product validation.Knowledge of silicon development, firmware development, software development, product validation, silicon manufacturing engineering.Excellent project and program management and planning skills, including scheduling, assessment, resource management, requirements management, status reporting, schedule tracking and risk management.Demonstrated team leadership skills and experience.Ability to promote ideas persuasively, influence others, and build and maintain effective professional relationships with internal partners and business leadersHighly organized with the ability to think strategically and tactically.Excellent English communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:

PMP certification or related training.Ability and experience to be able to schedule and track projects using Microsoft Project.Experience with working with geographically spread, multidiscipline teams across multiple time zones.Functional safety certified professional or have experience taking a product through functional safety certification (IEC 61508, ISO 26262, Automotive SPICE, or similar from the industrial, aerospace or automotive industry).Experience working on US government contracts, proposals, and requests for information.Experience with Phase/Gate or other program management methodologies.An independent thinker willing and able to express and support a point of view

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in California, is $75,000 - $232,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
