Senior Technical Writer - Indirect Tax Analyst

Our Content and Technical Writing team is seeking a new writer who is a subject matter expert in Canadian GST/HST. Reporting to the Manager, Content & Technical Writing, the successful candidate will create and support creation of secondary content of a nature requiring expert knowledge of tax and accounting subject matter.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Creating and revising secondary content at level requiring taxation, legal, accounting or other subject matter qualifications and domain-leading level of knowledge of subject matter. Secondary content may include but may not be limited to commentary, practical application content, examples, quick reference features, rate charts, metadata, thesaurus content and taxonomy content. Also includes peer reviewing secondary content prepared by others.Author and contributor liaison, including consultation on content requirements, and assessment of quality.Monitor changes in the regulatory and industry environment affecting areas of subject matter expertise. Ensure that subject matter knowledge is maintained and enhanced on an ongoing basis. Make recommendations regarding product maintenance and development based on knowledge of industry and trends. Create and maintain current competitive analyses.Contributing to new product development and product enhancement planning, working with product management and business development staff. May include but may not be limited to creating and reviewing content proposals within areas of subject matter expertise, input into content requirements creation, and input into time and resource estimates.Provide customer assistance involving comprehensive content & subject area expertise.Support sales and marketing functions, including input into and review of marketing materials, and competitive analysis of comparable competitive content.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
A minimum of three to five years’ experience working with Canadian GST/HST in a practice environment;Post graduate degree in fields of tax law or financial accounting;In-depth proficiency with Canadian GST/HST legislation and compliance procedures;Demonstrated writing on tax matters (published articles, technical memos, etc.);Proficient with researching tax matters using online platform to review sources such as legislation, government documents, and cases;Strong communication skills, verbal and written;Exceptional organizational skills;Ability to work effectively with a multi-departmental team; andFamiliarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, etc.).EDUCATION
University degree;Professional degree or designation (LL.B, CA, CPA, CGA, CMA); andCPA In-Depth GST/HST Program would be an asset.
