Position Description:

Are you a skilled Mechanical Technician with a passion for providing exceptional customer service and solving technical challenges? If so, join our team as a Sr. Field Technician and be part of Goodyear’s new "Tires as a Service" end-to-end tire management program. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is looking for a skilled and self-driven Sr. Field Technician for our Tires as a Service division. 

 

In this position, you will play a key role in supporting our customers by addressing technical / mechanical and Hardware / Software issues and verifying proper installation of technical equipment on commercial vehicles and delivering excellent service on-site and remotely. You will also assist our Technology Performance and Operations team with your technical expertise and contribute to the continuous improvement of our products and services as this business offering continues to grow. This role will require a flexible work schedule and will require frequent travel to customer sites as needed.


 
Principal Responsibilities:

Ensure and troubleshoot technical equipment to maximize customer satisfaction. Provides technical support to customers and collaborate with internal Goodyear technical teams. Conducts on-site and remote service visits to resolve technical issues. Performs vehicle trials and fitments of new technologies implemented to the field and customer fleets. Manage service tickets, orders, requests, incidents (paper and digitally) for each service job assigned. Conducts root cause analysis, gathers facts, prepares findings, and provides written reports on investigation findings. Evaluates and verifies Tires as a Service installation processes, technology best practices, and hardware installation guidelines are followed according to the service manual.

 
Required Experience and Education:

Bachelor’s degree in electrical\mechanical engineering or related field. (In lieu of degree, 8 years of relevant experience required.) 3+ years’ experience in mechanical\electrical, or industrial support. Equipment maintenance and/or automotive background a plus.  Experience working with logistic / delivery and fleet management software\technologies desired, not required.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Experience working with automotive CAN (controller area network) networks and ECUs (electrical control unit) desired, not required. Ability to travel as needed. Ability to install, configure, and maintain hardware and software desired, not required.    Broad technical knowledge, ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Ability to understand complex problems and apply analytical problem-solving skills. Capable of running tests & interpreting the results to make effective recommendations to fix faulty or broken equipment.
