Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Test Design Engineer for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Fargo, ND, you will lead overall test development for high level programs and enhance existing test systems for robust electronics intended for on/off road vehicles and harsh environments. In addition, you will:
Lead requirements definition working directly with customers while guiding and training other engineers. Review and provide proper feedback about the requirements. Lead innovative HW/SW testing architectures and designs for challenging problems while guiding and training other engineers. This includes breaking the original requirements down into the proper high level and mid range architecture and then creating detailed design notes from the results. Perform advanced analysis and make recommendations and design decisions based on results while guiding and training other engineers. Review the design calculations of others to ensure proper application of design techniques. Lead code implementation using advanced LabVIEW development practices and tools. Drive process to eliminate tool suite set up problems. Solve integration issues that involve multiple code modules, code bases, and/or multiple developers. Critically review others’ code. Perform advanced unit, integration, and systems verification and validation testing using HW/SW tools. Drive process and consistency in test system architecture and code reviews. Review documentation produced during the Product Development Lifecycle that is generated by other engineering groups and verifies this documentation is sufficient for product design. Generate support documents as needed. Work closely with other project team members as needed to ensure the final combined product has compatible software, electronic hardware, and mechanical hardware which functions properly together and performs at levels specified in the test requirement or specifications. Provide technical guidance to other test team members and lead large test projects requiring more than one engineer, with minimal support from a supervisor.

What Skills You Need4 or more years of experience in electronics testing 4 or more years of experience in LabVIEW or other NI programming languages 4 or more years of experience with basic controls, and Data Acquisition systems (DAQ) Technical experience using and understanding electronic schematics and hardware analysis software (Pspice, MathCAD, etc.) Experience in statistical analysis (SPC, GR&R, Monte Carlo, etc.) Experience with 3 phase power fundamentals, converters, and inverters Experience with basic electronics hardware and systems Good written and verbal communications skills (English) Understanding of product development phases What Makes You Stand Out
Advanced engineering degree or certification(s) beyond bachelor’s level in applicable area Power Electronics manufacturing functional testing experience Experience working in Voltage class B2 environments Experience with communication protocols (i.e. CAN, Ethernet, Automotive Ethernet, RS-232, USB, Modbus, etc.) Experience evaluating, specifying, designing, and automating leak test tools and systems Experience with basic machine control NI TestStand and circuit simulation software experience Education
