Senior Test Engineer

The Senior Test Engineer is responsible for designing quality/reliability tests and developing testing procedures for planning and implementation of electrical, mechanical, and environmental tests on new and existing product designs; Designs, plans, and specifies fabrication and procurement of laboratory fixtures and test equipment. Responsible for all validation and reliability planning and execution within sustaining engineering and new product development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Assign projects and train testing setups to Lab Technicians and Sr. Lab Technicians

Provide leadership in new product development teams and creation of test plans

Maintain test-related new product and current product documentation in database environment

Design and present test plans for testing on prototypes, existing, and competitor products

Support the design, procurement, planning, assembly, and implementation of test equipment

Perform tests and setup test equipment for stated criteria, involving mechanical, electrical, environment, and electromechanical functions

Assist Engineers in test methods and product analysis

Prepare testing methods and demonstrate testing competence

Responsible for the management, implementation and reporting of Reliability techniques and reliability data collection and use

Responsible for field testing assignments and capture of results

Demonstrates Continuous Improvement throughout all responsibilities

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline;

5-10 years of relevant work experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Applies engineering knowledge to improve products or services;

Able to solve complex engineering problems;

Good decision-making skills;

Technical Skills to include Data Acquisition and Complex Data Analysis;

Microsoft Application;

Proficient oral and written communication;

Experience with test process, design and analysis;

Experienced in Accelerated Life Testing of Mechanical Systems;

Experience in 8D Problem Solving;

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk.  On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
