Job DescriptionAt GDIT, people are our differentiator. As a hands-on Test Engineer, you will support an integrated team design, execute and coordinate testing activities to evaluate and confirm that the technical and functional aspects of a software platform meet the requirements of a State government customer. This position will be responsible for the defining and managing test cases within the context of an industry standard test management tool and for coordinating with various vendors, both external and internal to the State agency. As the Test Engineer, you will also be responsible for creating and maintaining test artifacts and for tracking the disposition of test cases, defects in the Requirements Traceability Matrix.
The scope of the program includes systems modernization, managed services, process development for cloud services provisioning, data integration across modules, and enhancing cloud capabilities to solve mission problems.
HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:
Serve as a senior test engineer on the program.Define test cases, test matrices, and writes test scripts from business requirements documentation to confirm that the system meets its business objectives.Communicate independently with development team to understand software product changes and develop testing harness required to support testing.Utilize test management tools to create and maintain test artifactsProduce and maintain test metricsDebug test failures of software services and API with the software development team to identify the root causes. Develop automated reports to track the progress of test case results relative to the program requirementsDevelop and manage the execution of performance / stress tests in a Cloud based environment in to identify potential performance anomalies / issues in the software; analyze results for recommended corrective actionsWork with the team to help adopt best practices for functional test case development and executionReview master test plans and associated updates in support of new releasesProvide guidance and monitor progress of the Agile development teams in the development and unit testing of their respective modulesDetermine testing strategies and guide the work of less experienced team members.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or another related fieldRequired Experience:
10+ years of related experience including 8+ years of test engineering experience.Full SDLC experience working in waterfall and agile environments Hands on experience working with Test Management tools such as JIRA and ZephyrStrong interpersonal skills and demonstrated experience working with stakeholders and development teams. Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proven ability to work independently while serving as an integral member of the team.Preferred:
2+ years working within a testing team, providing test engineering services within a cloud environmentExperience with test automation tools (Postman, Selenium, MOVEit etc.)Location:
Remote, however, up to 10% of travel is expected
