Are you living your life's work? Summary: + The Senior Therapy Manager serves as a member of therapy leadership team in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Penn Medicine. This individual has oversight in the following areas where applicable: Proton Therapy, Photon Therapy, Simulation/imaging/high dose rate brachytherapy. The Senior Therapy Manager oversees the Radiation Therapists and provides direction and support for all aspects of daily clinical and technical therapy operations. This includes leveraging advanced education and training. The Senior Therapy Manager facilitates the delivery of high-quality preparation and administration of radiation treatments and imaging in collaboration with Physicians, Physicists, Dosimetrists, Nursing, Practice Management, and support staff. Under the leadership of the Associate Director of Radiation Therapy, the Senior Therapy Manager facilitates the development and implementation of technical programs, quality assurance, patient safety, regulatory and compliance oversight, vendor relations, and technological assessment.The Senior Therapy Manager is responsible for the team of radiation therapists who work in their assigned areas, clinical team operations, continuous process improvement, and ongoing development of and adherence to standards and protocols. The Senior Therapy Manager is responsible for the recruitment, selection, evaluation, scheduling and training of personnel. The Senior Therapy Manager is responsible for standardizing, educating, training, oversight of competency, and maintaining clinical expertise for the radiation therapy employees. The role assists in the delivery of care when appropriate and or necessary. The Senior Therapy Manager oversees therapy billing tasks, coordinates patient flow, regularly reviews practices for policy and procedure updates, oversees therapy competencies, development and implementation, and provides technical representation on departmental quality assurance committees. The role oversees therapy personnel, equipment, and supply costs in accordance with budget. There is a primary focus on the organizational goals and collaborating with departmental and local leadership in the design, evaluation, and implementation of the strategic plan of the department. The Senior Therapy Manager must also be able to: communicate effectively, demonstrate clinical judgement while establishing clinical credibility, exhibit self-direction in maintaining professional knowledge, apply critical thinking and analytical skills to evaluate and drive change, provide mentorship and partner with department leadership. Responsibilities: + Compliance: Ensure compliance with all state, federal and other applicable regulatory bodies, and safety standards (departmental, institutional, Joint Commission, APEx, State, etc.). Ensure patient treatments meet all safety expectations and guidelines. Proactively monitor compliance and safety adherence and enforce necessary actions to maintain the highest level of safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. Must be able to manage the Radiation Therapists on new treatments and be proficient in treatment and imaging technology or equipment utilized by the Radiation Oncology Department.Clinical: Provides direct daily supervision of Radiation Therapists’ performance and treatment delivery/imaging processes to ensure timely, safe, efficient patient care. Maintains robust knowledge of treatment and imaging modalities. Manages and coordinates delivery of patient care for assigned patient care area. Provides input for development of and is responsible for RT(T) adherence to all Radiation Therapy related policies and procedures relevant to the scope of practice. Regularly monitors, collects, and reviews data sources to create and maintain benchmarks and identify other opportunities to advance clinical efficiency, processes, and employee, patient and customer experience. Engages in research, education, patient advocacy, and administrative activities as assigned. Addresses patient complaints. Oversees daily appointment scheduling and on-site patient experience to ensure access to care and physician and patient satisfaction. Provides direct daily supervision of Radiation Therapy Students clinical performance. Leadership: Oversees the day-to-day management of radiation therapy personnel and operations at all Penn Medicine Radiation Oncology facilities. Ensures productivity levels are maintained. Encourages RT(T) in career growth by providing mentorship to advance their professional development. Leads the team of radiation therapists to support a safe, high-quality environment for care delivery. Oversee RT(T) personnel actions including hiring, training, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, terminations, and other related activities. Must build and maintain rapport with team. Must be a proven technical expert. Participates in entity and department wide initiatives. Regularly attends and participates in meetings and provides therapy-related perspective. An important focus of the Senior Therapy Manager role is to understand organizational goals and to design, implement, and evaluate practice change initiatives that advance these goals.Partners with practice management and medical director to ensure the highest of care and best experience to patients.Quality Improvement: Experience in the oversight of programs to improve efficiency and quality of patient care and workflows. Demonstrates experience in developing and monitoring quality initiatives from inception through maintenance. Promote safe care via Condition Reporting system. Investigates CRS and Safety Net (Midas) reports as appropriate. Report findings and provides remediation as appropriate.Project Management: Provides leadership from inception through maintenance of projects, initiatives and special assignments. Aligns teams, communicates effectively, prepares and provides deliverables, and meets project objectives on time and within budget. Works with cross-functional teams.Financial Management: Reviews financial reports independently and as distributed by financial professionals and Director of Radiation Therapy. Actively manages supply and equipment costs and communicates expected variations frombudget proactively and regularly. Balances staffing models to achieve budget targets and organizational objectives.Facility Management: Develops positive relationships with building owner, construction, township, and other personnel, asneeded. Acts as point person for general facility management for the clinical treatment area.Vendor Relationship: Establishes and maintains vendor relationships based on clinical need.
