Senior Traffic Operator
Overview Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a motivated and qualified senior traffic operator to join our growing team that has a large backlog full of exciting design and traffic operations projects on some of the most iconic transportation facilities in the country. The selected candidate will have the unique opportunity to serve as a lead traffic operator at an on-site management center in Ewing Township, with the ability to monitor roadway corridors via controlled traffic signal systems and various other intelligent transportation system technologies. Tasks include monitoring, detecting, documenting, recommending updates to improve, and regularly disseminating information and data about traffic conditions and monitoring signal health to effectively maintain the transportation system through a host of events, both planned and unplanned. Position offers unique ability to work collaboratively in a dynamically changing landscape with internal stakeholders, senior leadership and other partner agencies creating an invigorating career opportunity. The anticipated work hours for this position would be Monday – Friday, 6am to 2pm. Responsibilities + Actively monitoring, detecting, documenting, and regularly disseminating information about the health of adaptive signal corridors to help effectively maintain transportation system through a host of events, both planned and unplanned to internal and external stakeholders. + Interface with ITS devices such as Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras and traffic signal systems. + Identifying and reporting potential road hazards, signal timing, construction activities, or traffic patterns that impede optimal traffic flow. + Gathering information from multiple sources, dashboards, and data analytics tools to work collaboratively with team members to make inform decisions about traffic management. + Monitoring email inbox and replying to messages, as necessary. + Adherence to established SOPs and guidelines for conduct in the management center. + Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and colleagues. Qualifications + 2-5 years of Traffic Engineering/Traffic Operations-related experience. + BS in Engineering or Information Technology. + Knowledge of Traffic Engineering/Traffic Operations principles and regional transportation system/stakeholders. + Familiarity with the MUTCD and other transportation publications. + Experience with the creation and implementation of QA/QC policies. + Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. + Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products (including Office 365) with emphasis on Excel-based programming. + Skill to gather information from multiple sources, dashboards, and data analytics tools to make informed decisions and evaluate cause/effect relationship of actions taken. + Ability to interface with ITS devices such as Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) cameras and traffic signal systems. + Perform tasks effectively under pressure. + Effective time management and organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task. + Must thrive in a team setting and act with professional demeanor and positive attitude. + Willingness to work on-site, in-person as part of the management center team with schedule flexibility including the ability to work holidays when required. + Valid driver’s license. + Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
