Primary Responsibilities
HDR is seeking a Senior Transit Planning Project Manager in the MN/WI area to pursue, manage and support multi-disciplinary transit planning projects that may include: Bus, Bus Rapid Transit, Light Rail, Streetcar, or Passenger Rail. This position is based in St. Louis Park, MN or Madison, WI with flexibility for remote work. The primary duties are to provide transit project management and support in the development of planning studies. This position would primarily be focused on serving our Transit clients in the Midwest with some work nationwide. Additionally, this position will also support our Transit Engineering, Planning, and Environmental groups. This position would consist of Planning assignments, including the coordination with transit, traffic, roadway, rail, environmental, engagement, and other disciplines as required.
The candidate must have demonstrated an ability to work independently on projects and assist on larger projects as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Task leadership experience is required along with current knowledge and trends within the Transit industry. An ideal candidate will have the desire to push innovation and continue to learn and inform teams on what’s next. Knowledge of and experience delivering projects consistent with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) requirements is required.
Focus areas may include: Station Area Planning, Service Planning, Ridership Modeling, Microtransit and Micromobility, Passenger and Freight Rail Planning, CIG Evaluation

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering or a related fieldA minimum of 10 years' experience with transportation planning
Possess excellent analytical and communication skills Understanding of transit planning principles Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel Solid business development skills; demonstrated ability to relate well to clients; and demonstrated presentation skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
