1Shift: First Shift (United States of America)Summary: The Department of Pathology is seeking to hire a Translational Scientist or a Senior Translational Research Scientist to join the Department's Computational Pathology team. In this key role, the individual will support research and clinical trial development through interpretation of data from high throughput genomic analyses including GWAS, genome, exome and targeted panel sequencing. The Senior Translational Research Scientist will interpret and integrate genomic data and contribute to the development of leading-edge molecular testing including analytical and knowledge informatics pipelines.In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Senior Translational Research Scientist will leverage machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) techniques to enhance data analysis and interpretation. Utilizing ML and AI, the individual will develop predictive models and algorithms to identify clinically relevant genomic variants and image patterns, contributing to personalized medicine approaches.
The role will involve integrating AI-driven insights with traditional bioinformatics methods to improve diagnostic, prognostic, and theragnostic clinical assays. The Senior Translational Research Scientist will support and develop novel analytical pipelines for diagnostic, prognostic, and theragnostic clinical assays including integration of novel contents; support analytical pipeline for cutting-edge genomics technologies such as optical mapping, high-density SNP arrays, single cell sequencing, spatial profiling and long read sequencing; review sequencing data and perform variant curation and interpretation, draft clinical reports, present findings, and develop procedures for variant curation and reclassification; develop innovative approaches and concepts that provide new perspectives on research problems in the field of cancer research; direct all facets of scientific research projects and assume complete responsibility for all phases of the project; perform work of a complex nature involving complex bioinformatics and biostatistical techniques; collaborate with clinicians and other scientists to develop the translational research components in clinical trials; design, implement and use computer databases for research and clinical projects; coordinate the translation components of ongoing clinical trials.
Salary range for the Translational Scientist position is $82,711 - $101,583 which includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Salary range for the Senior Translational Scientist position is $102,003 - $124,386 which includes a comprehensive benefits package.Qualifications:Required Education and Experience for the Translational Scientist:
1. PhD in a health or science related field and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience in research or clinical trials; or
2. Master’s degree in a health or science related field and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience in research or clinical trials.
Required Education and Experience for the Senior Translational Scientist:
PhD in a health or science related field and the equivalent of five (5) years of full-time experience in research or clinical trials.
NOTE:
Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
