Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Senior Transportation Engineer, you will work as a key member of a highway/roadway design team for moderate to large projects. We'll count on you to:
Prepare and oversee the preparation of the following roadway/highway design work using local or AASHTO standards: horizontal and vertical alignment, roadway sections, intersection layout and sight distance determination, interchange layout, right of way and construction plans Along with design, you will be responsible for preparing and overseeing the preparation of the following elements of various sizes of contract plans, specifications and estimates: roadway sections, alignment/right of way plans, site preparation plans, roadway profiles and maintenance of traffic plans Assist in the management of larger projects and manage smaller projects Prepare scopes budgets and schedules Day to day communication (verbal and written) with the client, Support and advise junior engineers and technical staff Coordinate with other design disciplines, write reports and technical memos Coordinate with sub-consultants to keep project on schedule and within budget Perform other duties as neededLI-MJ1
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Civil EngineeringPE10 years of transportation engineering design experience requiredExperience with local owners (VDOT, DDOT, MDSHA, MDTA or local municipalities)Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Microstation and GeoPak and/or Open Roads (or other design software as appropriate)Excellent oral and written communication skills ability to work with various teams and project management skills desirableAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.Preferred Qualifications
Previous work experience with an A/E/C Engineering firm preferredExperience in the Northern VA, Washington DC and/or Maryland transportation marketplace strongly preferred.Preference given to local candidatesWhy HDR
