Senior Trust Advisor
The Senior Trust Advisor will manage a portfolio of critical accounts, including but not limited to; trusts, agencies, endowments, ERISA plans and Investment Management accounts. Position will provide trust administration and fiduciary services for higher value clients. The advisor will provide guidance and direction to staff on account administration related matters. The role involves a strong emphasis on business development in strategic growth markets, requiring the advisor to identify new opportunities for customer acquisition and growth while maintaining existing client relationships. The advisor will be responsible for representing the company in business activities and community-related functions. The position will partner with regional law firms and tax professionals to enhance our Wealth Management presence and name recognition. Education and Experience: + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience with strong computer literacy and financial experience. + Minimum 8 years’ experience in trust administration, estate planning or related fiduciary role. + Proven track record in business development, with the ability to identify, target and secure new customers. + Strong knowledge of fiduciary laws, tax considerations and regulatory requirements. + Completion of career specific training such as Cannon Trust or New York Bankers Trust Schools to include coursework in estate administration, trust administration, and taxation required. + Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role preferred. + CFP, CEPA, CExP, CTFA or comparable certifications preferred. Skills and Abilities: + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to research independently and reduce findings to writing. + Strong computer literacy to include Microsoft Office Suite and other proprietary industry software. + Excellent customer service skills; able to independently organize, coordinate, and outline agendas for client meetings that may include other professionals. + Ability to understand and interpret complex legal documents. + Significant working knowledge of personal income, fiduciary income and transfer taxation. + Strong mentoring and problem resolution skills. Unique Job Characteristics and Requirements: + Client meetings are often held outside normal banking hours at various locations. + Experience in advising business owner clients on the topic of succession planning. Tasks Performed: + 65% - Generate revenue growth through new customer relationships and enhancement of existing relationships with increased interaction and cross selling efforts with other bank partners. Share product knowledge and promote other wealth management products such as financial planning, insurance and retirement services. Effective and efficient business succession exit plan execution. Administers complex and high-profile exit planning as part of a team from initial stages to final liquidity event. Obtains proper business valuations on business or partnership assets. Maintains ongoing communications with client and beneficiaries, tax authorities, and external professionals. Works closely with Portfolio Manager to ensure integration of liquidity into overall portfolio strategy. + 20% - Client relationship management, responsible for coordinating services, building relationships with clients and their families, and functioning as the clients' trusted advisor. A primary fiduciary contact that delivers high quality client service and earns extended business from well established relationships and trusted interactions. Independently understands and applies fundamentals of personal, fiduciary and transfer taxation, investments, and employee benefits as it relates to the administration of assigned accounts. Serves as mentor to and provides guidance to administrators in the resolution of issues and problems using acquired knowledge and experience. + 10% - Primarily responsible for the overall compliance of accounts/relationships in accordance with policies and procedures. Performs document reviews and approvals, communications, account updates, lead meetings as needed and advise other colleagues on complex matters. + 5% Other duties as assigned.
