Senior Underwriter, Builders Risk & Inland Marine

KEY OBJECTIVE:       

Chubb is currently seeking a skilled Builder’s Risk Underwriter to join its Middle Market Commercial Insurance practice in the Toronto Branch. We are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated, results oriented with proven new business success and solid underwriting acumen.

As a key member of the Commercial Insurance underwriting department, you have the role of establishing and maintaining healthy relationships with assigned brokers and driving new business growth in this large profitable book of Builders Risk Business. 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Underwriting duties include developing and negotiating price, coverage, terms and conditions for new business while actively identifying account rounding opportunities for other Chubb practices. Gather and analyze account information and make sound risk selection and underwriting recommendations and decisions. Develop, establish, and foster relationships with key brokers.  Contribute to projects as required to improve business and continually develop professional competencies.   Contribute to differentiated customer retention and sales results. Develop sales and marketing strategies to meet and/or exceed new business targets.  A minimum of five (5) years of Builders Risk experience underwriting both Master and Stand-alone programs. Completion of university degree and/or equivalent work experience. Effective organization and time management skills with the ability to follow-up independently. High level of responsiveness and efficiency when working with stakeholders. Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills, proven through established broker relationships.Superior marketing ability, combined with excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to respond as a team player, in a multi-task environment.Strong ability to effectively interact with all levels of customers and collaborate with internal stakeholders including underwriters, claims and loss control. Strong ability to be innovative and creative to develop new business opportunities.Comfortable working in a deadline-oriented atmosphere.CIP and/or CRM designation or completed CIP/CRM courses considered an asset.
