Senior Underwriter, Environmental

The Region’s Environmental Senior Underwriter’s primary responsibility is to underwrite individual risks through a demonstration of the following skills and abilities:

Fundamentals of coverage, terms and conditions. Ability to offer coverage, terms and conditions which generate a profit for the Company while meeting the needs of the customer. Risk Assessment. Ability to identify risk exposures, special or common hazards, and appropriate controls. Ability to select risk based on exposure and risk analysis. Ability to analyze claims and quantify losses. Financial proficiency. Understanding of financial statements and ratios used in risk analysis. Understanding of insurance financial fundamentals; impact of underwriting decisions on company assets. Ability to understand credit risk. Actuarial fundamentals. Ability to understand loss trends, loss triangles, and ratemaking. Ability to quantify risk based on experience history and forecasting methods. Marketing and communications. Ability to sell and negotiate to achieve bottom line profitability for the Company. Ability to make presentations and communicate articulately. Ability to base communications on strategic thinking. Ability to manage producer strategy. Systems and programs. Ability to use systems and software programs needed to conduct daily business. Customer Service. Ability to provide first class customer service in a high paced environment setting. 

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties may include but are not limited to:

Implements product line underwriting objectives by review, evaluation, selection and pricing insurance program. Generates new business revenues by developing prospects, visiting assigned producers, participating in direct presentations and negotiating programs and cross marketing within the Chubb organization Provides primary communication and direction for all processing requirements including policy issuance instruction, endorsement requests, billing requirements and audit review Maintains service standards by timely response to customers and broker requests and timely receipt of collateral and agreements in addition to meeting deadlines on submissions of quotations, certificates and/or policies Manage new business, lost business, rate and exposure to achieve growth goals. Coordinates as necessary with various departments, including Financial, Actuarial, Billing, CGRA and IT. Coordinate and respond to broker requests related to Chubb’s online Tanksafe system Assist with Tanksafe system testing, maintenance and functionality  Guides and mentors junior staff

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

5-7 years underwriting experience Experience with multiple lines of insurance Bachelor’s degree Knowledge of insurance industryKnowledge of underwriting concepts, practices, and proceduresMicrosoft Word, Excel, and OutlookInternet usageOral and written communication skillsNegotiation skillsMarketing skillsBasic leadership skills
