Contribute to the development and implementation of channel strategic plans and motivate and develop the team by demonstrating good leadership behaviors and management best practice so as to support the achievement of business goals. Provide senior technical and specialist product expertise to intermediary/clients on the range of products offered. Responsible for underwriting activities and P&L responsibility.

Responsible for underwriting activities and P&L responsibilityResponsible for managing UW relationship with intermediaries and business partners in the area of underwriting service delivery, product development and innovationResponsible for managing overall business relationship with MTPs and brokers in the area of GWP growthEnsure the ongoing personal technical development to achieve ideal DAL state

Your new role

Support the divisional underwriting function to actively manage talent (attract, recruit, develop and retain) to build people capability for the future (succession planning)Evaluate risk for new business & renewals in accordance with standards, to ensure profitable growthActively keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively and appropriatelyPerform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are metAdhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risks and maximize efficiencyDevelop and maintain good working relationships with all customers, intermediaries and internal stakeholdersBuild strong knowledge of current legislation, best practice, underwriting acceptance levels, systems and organizational guidelinesContribute to the development and implementation of channel strategic plansMotivate and develop the team by demonstrating good leadership behaviors and management best practice so as to support the achievement of business goalsProvide senior technical and specialist product expertise to intermediary/clients on the range of products offered

About you

10+ years of underwriting experienceEstablished customer/broker relationshipsLocal market expertiseBroad insurance industry knowledgeExcellent understanding of class specific underwriting and development reinsurance knowledgeUnderstanding of relevant market conditionsNegotiation and problem-solving skillsRelationship management and communication skillsAnalytical and research skillsExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to analyze data use for decision-makingCommercial acumenRelevant tertiary qualifications, specialist qualifications or equivalent
