The Senior Life Underwriter is accountable for managing assigned work, developing agency relationships, and ensuring customer satisfaction at the highest level. The position requires the individual to operate in a cross-functional team environment. Develop and implement decision making of individual life cases up to $5,000,000.
You will
Recognize and acquire requirements necessary in evaluating risks, consistently using a comprehensive approach (a “broadened view” of the entire case to forecast all needs and requirements at onset).Evaluate medical, financial, and non-medical information, as developed, to determine the risk classification according to company guidelines.Collaborate with our reinsurers to negotiate and secure risk classification for business that may exceed our mortality standards, exceed our corporate retention, and/or for the benefit of securing a more competitive offer.Communicate with field partners and home office personnel for the purpose of acquiring necessary information, solving problems, negotiating appeals, and conveying decisions in a polite, confident, and professional manner.You have
3 + years of experience in individual life underwriting.Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.Industry related education (ALU, CLU, LOMA, etc.).Knowledge of underwriting manuals, MIB (Medical Information Bureau) reporting, and various risk assessment vendor tools.The skills for risk assessment, collaboration, and customer service.The ability to think divergently.Knowledge of individual life insurance products/processes.Analytical, Negotiation, Written and Oral communication skills.Outstanding decision-making skills and organizational and time management skills.Location
This is a flexible position with the opportunity to work remotely and requires travel for biannual department meetings.
Salary Range$67,450.00 - $110,815.00The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate. In addition to salary, this role may also be eligible for annual, sales, or other incentive compensation.
