To provide underwriting, technical support, assist in the development and management of a profitable business portfolio under the specified insurance class according to the Company’s guidelines and delegated authorities.

The Opportunity

Contribute to the achievement of operational objectives for the underwriting function and/or business unitContribute to the development the annual business plan for the portfolio, monitor and report on progress, identify deviations, recommend remedial action and implement it, in order to achieve business objectivesParticipate in meetings, as required, to contribute and support the development of strategy, share knowledge and best practicePerform underwriting activities in accordance with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are metAdhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimize risks and maximize efficiency with contribution to continuous quality improvement processes

Your New Role

Develop and maintain good working relationships with all customers, intermediaries and internal stakeholdersActively keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively and appropriatelyEvaluate risk for new business in accordance with standards, to ensure profitable growthIdentify new business opportunities and self-insurance prospectsEstablish appropriate measurement techniques and reporting systemsBuild strong knowledge of current legislation, best practice, underwriting acceptance levels, systems and organizational guidelinesContribute to the aggregate management and peer review processes

About You

Act as a technical expert to support the identification of issues and opportunities within the specified insurance class and provide efficient and timely service to brokers and clientsMotivate and develop the team by demonstrating good leadership behaviors and management best practice so as to support the achievement of business goalsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, ability to analyze data use for decision-making with commercial acumen10+ years of underwriting experienceEstablished customer/broker relationships
