Senior User Experience Designer
Introduction to team
The Supply Partner Experience team works to craft outstanding and accessible user experiences for our supply partners (in other words, our hotel and vacation rental property owners).
This role will be critical in shaping the quality, coherence, and strategic direction of our app experiences, with an immediate initial focus on our vacation rental owner app. You will partner with UX researchers, content designers, product managers, and engineers to create the best value for our travel partners. You will work with and contribute to our design system and embrace our app-first mentality. Your role is to synthesize all the feedback from the partners into interactions that make our diverse customers confident and productive in running their businesses through our products and services.
You are experienced with workshop facilitation and can rally cross-functional teams to solve experience problems with you through swarms, sprints, or other low-overhead, high-output ceremonies. You are well-versed in the Double Diamond as a menu rather than a prescriptive workflow, and you are equally motivated to ship, test, and learn through real-time product experimentation. You care a lot about quality but are also pragmatic enough to know where quality matters most.
In this role, you will:
Lead and manage UX design projects from concept to implementation, ensuring a user-centric approach throughout
Act as a resourceful problem solver, overcoming design challenges and finding innovative solutions within project constraints
Proactively identify UX improvement opportunities and take the lead in creating a roadmap for executing them
Role model and mentor junior designers in modern, principled approaches to native app design — from motion and interaction techniques to optimizing app performance
Hold yourself accountable for the quality of our app experiences, both in the work you deliver and together with your working partners
Role model best practices in sense-making, facilitation, and visual storytelling
Help set and uphold high standards for design documentation and delivery
Role model best practices for using and contributing to Expedia Group’s Design System and reference UI
Experience and Qualifications:
A proven track record of leading and delivering successful UX projects (from concept to delivery), with a specific emphasis on designing native apps:
Deep experience designing native iOS or Android apps is a must for this role
Proficiency in understanding Apple's HIG and Android’s Material Design, and demonstrated use in work
Fluency in designing experiences that leverage native hardware and software capabilities (ex. notifications, GPS location, offline mode, etc.)
Demonstrated expertise in native design patterns, paradigms, heuristics as well as responsive mobile web design
Effective Cross-Functional Collaboration: Excel in working collaboratively with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders
A strong ability to communicate and translate user needs and design concepts effectively to cross-functional teams
Skilled at prioritizing UX tasks and projects based on business goals, user impact, and development constraints
Attention to Detail and Visionary Thinking: A keen eye for pixel-level detail, ensuring that every aspect of the user experience is meticulously crafted. Simultaneously, the ability to see the bigger picture and align their design work with the broader product vision. An understanding of how individual design elements contribute to the overall user journey and product goals
Bachelor’s degree in UX design, HCI, or a related field
6-8+ years of experience in UX design, with a portfolio showcasing successful projects
Proficiency in UX design tools such as Figma
