Senior Utilities Design Engineer

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Senior Utilities Design Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to lead and innovate in designing advanced utility systems, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and drive excellence in infrastructure design.

What You'll Be Doing:

Develop conceptual and Detailed engineering design for the Utility corridors design, master planning of utilities, Utilities Cross sections, writing technical notes, and coordination of existing and new utilities infrastructure. Coordinate with other engineering sections, prepare alternative solutions to issues and problemsReview and feasibility studies of utility corridors and easement requests for proposed and existing utilities.Technical Review of improvement plans, technical specifications, construction estimates, design calculations for compliance with approved design criteria and good engineering practice.Shall be conversant with Qatar Utilities Authority regulations such as MM, PWA, KME, KMW, QAF, Ooredoo, Q-Rail and other relevant authorities within gulf region.Provide support for the Construction Department in answering and resolving technical design issues, clarification and interpretation of the design drawings and coordination with other sections.Provide technical guidance to Engineers and Designer.Provide supervision of design plan and profiles production for entire projects of small scale.Review plans and profiles for technical compliance with design objectives and clarity for constructionDevelops simple workflows / Templates to enable efficient repetition of designApplies advanced engineering principles to complex analytical modelsChecks design deliverables from equal or less experienced EngineersDevelop the baseline design schedule for a small team at the start of each taskTrack progress of task assignments vs original baseline schedule.Contribute as a productive and efficient team member to meet project deadlinesPrimary interface with client on all matters relating to work assignments for one engineering discipline. Mentor junior staff on technical aspects including the potential to conduct on-site training of personnel.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

Bachelor’s Degree (Master Degree or higher preferred) in Civil Engineering.12+ years related design and management of utility systems for a diverse range of infrastructure projects experience in transportation, water, sewage, and electrical systems.Professional Engineer registration required (PE, Peng or CEng)Thorough knowledge of current technology in order to be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on the project. Ability to mentor staff on engineering software applications and processesDetermines methods and solutions to be used for complex engineering problems and selecting the most efficient an economical manner to meet objectives. Capable of applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses within a single engineering discipline. Familiarity with industry practices, codes and regulations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with client, management, and project personnel on technical and non-technical subjects.Proficient in all software and able to act as mentor to staff developing skillsProficient in commonly used complex engineering software and understands how engineering principles are applied in the softwareUnderstands QA/QC standard practices and procedures and guides staffProficient in non-standard detailing.Develop complex sketches and detailing for plansDraft special provisions for specialty elements with reduced oversightGood understanding of preparation of design reports.Must be registered with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) in Qatar.
