The Defense Systems Sector of Leidos has an opening for a Senior Vice President, Chief Engineer (CE) located in Reston, VA or Huntsville, AL. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sector Chief Engineer is a Senior Vice President and core member of the Defense Systems Sector leadership team with the following primary responsibilities:
Define and manage the overall systems engineering, model-based systems engineering, reliability engineering, and digital engineering efforts across the SectorDefine, optimize, and execute rigorous systems engineering tools, processes, and resources in all Sector Business Areas – and drive technical innovation into these areasEnsure proper engineering discipline, rigor, reporting, and focus in Sector solutions, and support planning for new business opportunitiesActively participate in the definition and implementation of the long-term engineering strategy aligned to the Sector and Corporate Technology Strategies, and Sector and Corporate goals Provide hardware and software engineering to support production and manufacturing, logistics, maintenance, and sustainment (LMS) in defense environmentsSupport Sector Manufacturing Leads with appropriate engineering processes and proceduresActively participate in the Capture Process to include writing and reviewing proposal content including engineering solutions, labor estimates, material estimates, risks, and engineering processManage and execute program and solution reviews throughout the business lifecycle, ensuring adherence to engineering processes and proactively identifying and mitigating risksProvide engineering resource and talent planningDevelop and mentor a set of mid to senior level engineering staff to include providing career guidance and professional growth opportunities for high potential employeesCollaborate with Sector Management, Office of Technology (OOT)/Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Growth, and Line Leadership to execute our strategies and to further Sector business goalsCollaborate with the CTO to further Leidos technical discrimination and growth goals with speed, scale, and securityCollaborate with Growth and client-facing technical teams to understand customer needs, provide technical insights, and ensure alignment between technical solutions and customer/market expectationsBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior technical roles within similar organizations with growing duties and responsibilities including experience leading large engineering teams, multi-disciplinary engineering teams, or integrated product teamsA recognized expert in the engineering field with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technology field as well as 20+ years of related engineering experience on large acquisition programs, large hardware and software systems delivery programsExperience providing engineering leadership on Defense PORs or in large defense contractor engineering organizationsSignificant experience supporting capture activities to include chairing/participating in Gate Reviews, writing specific sections of proposals, providing preliminary technical guidance for solutions, reviewing or developing basis of estimates (BOEs), and evaluating and mitigating solution and BOE risksExperience in developing, enforcing, and improving engineering policy, standards, best practices, and managementManagement and oversight over tailored system engineering processes and tools to include requirements management, baseline management, risk management, configuration management, schedule management, verification and validation, and reportingAbility to build a strong team that provides engineering leadership while growing the greater engineering talent and practices across a larger organization through influence, inspiration, and mentoringStrong oral and written communication skills, along with public speaking skillsAbility to identify, mentor, lead, manage, and promote talentAbility to travel 25% of the timeTop Secret clearance is required with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearancePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Pay Range:Pay Range $273,000.00 - $438,750.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
