Title: Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy & Finance Location: Brisbane, CA About Us: Vera Therapeutics (Nasdaq: VERA), is a late clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for serious immunological diseases. Position Summary: We're seeking an SVP, Corporate Strategy & Finance to lead the development of long-term strategic business plans, drive investment and partnering initiatives, and oversee financial strategy in alignment with company goals. Reporting to the CFO, this role will be integral to identifying and evaluating business opportunities across the R&D portfolio, shaping the company's future success. The ideal candidate will be an accomplished leader with a proven track record in financial strategy, corporate development, and successfully negotiating significant transactions. Responsibilities: * Provide strategic leadership and insight on financing plans, helping to evaluate creative financing strategies, generating options/alternatives for accessing capital, as well as supporting financial evaluation of these transactions. * Collaborate with senior management to drive Vera Therapeutics' corporate strategy and long-term plans, identifying opportunities for internal and external investments to support Vera's growth and expansion. * Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organization's operations and business plans. * Develop long-range plans to access capital for future development needs and company growth objectives. * Partner with the R&D team to assess early-stage compounds and integrate commercial and financial perspectives into the research and development process. * Lead cross-functional teams in developing technical, commercial, and financial assessments of new business opportunities. * Provide executive leadership in creating and executing global business strategies to support Vera's portfolio. * Develop and implement innovative strategies to advance business objectives and optimize portfolio value. * Monitor market trends, competitors, and emerging opportunities to inform strategic decision-making. * Oversee and manage the Corporate Development function, ensuring alignment with company goals. * Represent Vera Therapeutics in external relationships with partners, and the broader business and financial communities. Qualifications: * Advanced scientific degree preferred; MBA is a plus. * 15+ years of experience within the biotechnology or pharmaceuticals industry, with a strong focus on corporate development, portfolio strategy, and financial management. * Proven track record of identifying, structuring, negotiating, and closing strategic transactions, including licensing agreements, strategic alliances, and partnerships, with expertise in financial analysis, corporate valuation, and deal structuring. * Deep network of business and corporate development contacts in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, enabling effective partnerships and collaborations. * Extensive transactional experience with clear evidence of value creation through successful deals, including the ability to lead financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting efforts related to business development activities. * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and quickly gain proficiency in the company's technologies, therapeutic products, and markets, while integrating financial oversight into strategic decision-making. * Demonstrated leadership in managing projects across a variety of therapeutic areas and successfully executing strategies, with financial acumen to assess opportunities and risks. * Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences, including industry partners, financial institutions, Board of Directors, and senior management, while conveying financial implications of strategic decisions. * Proven success in establishing and nurturing relationships with suppliers, partners, and collaborators, driving business growth and managing financial aspects of partnerships. * Strong problem-solving, analytical, and creative skills, with sound judgment to make data-driven decisions, including financial risk assessments, while maintaining scientific integrity and fostering a culture of excellence. For this role, the anticipated base pay range is $343,000 - $421,000. The exact base pay offered for this role will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the candidate's geography, qualifications, skills, and experience. At Vera, base pay is only one part of your total compensation package. The successful candidate will be eligible for an annual performance incentive bonus, new hire equity, and ongoing performance-based equity.
