HDR is currently in search for a Senior Water Resources Engineer to work as a member of our Transportation Business Group.In the role of Senior Water Resources Engineer, we'll count on you to:Perform drainage and hydrologic investigations and design for highway and transit projects within the groupProvide development of stormwater management plans and designs for other infrastructure projects in the area (including water and wastewater infrastructure projects)Conduct analyses to develop design options, designing recommended Best Management Practices (BMP) and preparing service deliverable documentsWork independently in addition to planning, organizing and supervising the work of medium to large teams of professionals and technicians dependent on project/taskServe as project manager on larger projects as neededMentor and oversee Water Resources Engineers and Water Resources EITsPrepare proposal, scopes of work and contract cost estimatesPerform other duties as neededPreferred QualificationsMS in Civil Engineering or related discipline10 years of working experience related to drainage engineeringVDOT highway drainage experienceMust be knowledgeable in erosion and sediment control criteria, stormwater management regulations and permitting processesExperience with MS Office, Microstation, Geopak Drainage, HEC-RAS, FHWA hydraulic programs and all other software used for drainage design for VDOT projectsMust be self-motivated, be able to work independently, lead junior staff and work with a project team to completion of a taskDesign-Build project experiencePreference given to local candidates

Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent fieldA minimum of 10 years Water Resources experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) licenseHEC-1, HEC-RAS, GEORAS, Storm CAD, Haested Methods Experience in water resources planning, hydrology/hydraulics and drainage/flood control designFamiliarity with DOT drainage design criteriaExperience in FEMA studies a plusExcellent writing and communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a project teamAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
