Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Water Resources Engineer for our Denver office. 

The duties include but are not limited to the following:

Provides project leadership in the areas of design, investigation, analysis, and construction of water management systems for Tailings Storage Facilities and multi-disciplinary mining projectsServe as lead engineer or discipline lead on mid- to large size projectsWork with existing and potential clients to provide long-term stormwater management solutions for mine waste facilitiesDevelop project proposals and work with mining business leader to support and grow the Mining practiceProvide direction to and mentoring to other technical staff in completing project tasksPerforms independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on workMay be responsible for Project teams that include 5 or more members often representing multiple disciplines including subcontractor(s)Plan, schedule, conduct or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering project, focusing on the stormwater management design of mine waste storage projectsProvide advice and consultation to client on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulationsConduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and drainage/civil design

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educationValid U.S. Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s OR PhD in Civil Engineering or related field of study10+ years or more of relevant experienceProfessional Engineer (PE) LicenseMSHA Miner trainingDemonstrated progressive experience in stormwater evaluation and design (e.g., hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analysis, stormwater management design), construction monitoring and operationsProgressive project experience including task leadership and project management roles on design and design-build projectsAbility to serve as primary point of contact with the client and develop client relationshipsKnowledge of standard hydrologic and hydraulic software programs (e.g., HEC-RAS and HEC-HMS) and evaluationsLead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, construction specifications, and final working drawingsWork with CAD designers to produce construction-level drawings including grading, drainage and roadway plans, profiles, details, and sectionsPerform frequency storm and probable maximum precipitation hydrologic analysesConduct hydraulic analyses and design of channels, culverts, bridges, flow measurement, and flood mappingPrepare reservoir and pond designs including geosynthetic lining, leak detection/collection systems, breach analysis, outlet works, and spillwaysDesign channels and energy dissipation structures that include concrete, riprap, articulated concrete block, fabric-formed concrete, and baffle blocks for erosion controlCoordinate with OSE, EPA, and other agencies for permit preparationPerform work in accordance with agreed upon scope, budget, and scheduleScope/estimate complex civil & hydraulics projectsTrack and manage task budgets and schedulesWrite reports and prepare/or direct preparation of detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and referencesMust be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people
