We are looking for a Senior Web Engineer to join our Community Tech Team in Helsinki. The Community team strives to engage and excite players across the globe through multiple platforms in the digital and physical world.

Our team acts as the bridge between the millions of players that play our games and the teams at Supercell who create the magic. Your colleagues are the faces of the games and the ones who advocate for the players within the game teams. We are here to build games and products that our players will love for years and years. To name a few products that you will be contributing to, our Creator Program, Inbox (Web based in-game news), SpellFactory (Deep link service that rewards in-game items) and many others.

We’re now looking for someone to join the team and take our projects to the next level. You will work closely with our game teams, our community managers as well as external consultants and leading digital agencies together with whom we build these services.

Responsibilities

Prior experience with technical leadership and/or product ownership – familiarity with digital product development is essentialDesign the technical architecture for how these services should be written by both in-house developers and external agenciesHands-on approach with programming and software developmentEnsure high quality delivery of said web servicesContinuously evaluate the performance and quality of our partners and provide helpful feedback across the scope: design, architecture, security, backend- and frontend code quality - all the way to the UXContribute to best practices on security, reliability and scaling digital servicesWork in collaboration with the our game teams, the Supercell ID team, our Store team and external digital agencies to deliver seamless player experiencesWe’re a small and nimble team so you will also have the chance to contribute to design and operation of these services

Requirements

Wide experience working with web technologies and building web servicesPrevious experience in writing scalable backends for web applicationsExperience with container orchestration such as Amazon ECSExperience writing Infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform)Experience with Java (or another JVM language) for backend developmentEntrepreneurial mindset (self-motivated, tenacious, resourceful, no handbook necessary) An open and respectful attitude towards others and their workPassion for games and online communities around games

Nice-to-have experience

Experience with Linux shell and scripting languagesKnowledge of network design, security and protocolsExperience with C++ and game development Prior experience in the field of games is a plus but not required as long as you are passionate about games
