Job Description Summary The Senior Wells Engineer is a technical expert responsible for planning, designing, and executing complex well construction and completion projects. This role involves leading cross-functional teams to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective development of oil and gas wells. The Senior Wells Engineer provides advanced engineering solutions, mentors junior team members, and promotes continuous improvement in Well engineering practices. This hands-on, technical position demands a deep understanding of the subsurface and a keen eye for optimizing processes and maximizing productivity. Key Responsibilities Well Design + Lead the planning and design of well construction programs, including deviated, horizontal, and multilateral well trajectories. + Develop detailed Well designs, balancing technical requirements with operational feasibility and regulatory compliance. + Analyze and interpret well data, such as drilling logs, mud reports, and production information, to optimize well performance. + Analyze data from geologists and geophysicists to create well plans that maximize the potential of the reservoir. + Deploy technical expertise to run simulations and optimize well parameters. + Collaborate with different teams to integrate well engineering with the overall field development strategy. Drilling Operations + Manage the execution of Well operations, including drilling, completion, and well intervention activities, ensuring adherence to safety and environmental protocols. + Analyze real-time data, identify potential problems, and implement proactive solutions. + Manage the procurement and logistics of drilling equipment and materials. Completion and Workover + Develop advanced Well completion designs and recommend appropriate downhole equipment and stimulation techniques. + Plan Well completion activities and supervise the implementation of completion programs. + Develop and execute well intervention and workover strategies to maintain or enhance Well productivity. Project Management + Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective Well delivery. + Prepare detailed engineering reports, proposals, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. Continuous Improvement + Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in Well engineering. + Identify and implement process improvements and innovative technologies. + Champion knowledge-sharing initiatives and help to develop internal processes and procedures. Mentoring + Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior engineers, technicians, and field personnel. What You Will Bring Experience + Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on Wells engineering + Professional engineering (P.E.) or other relevant certifications + Experience in specialized well engineering disciplines, such as deepwater, unconventional, or enhanced oil recovery Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering or a related field + Master’s degree in related field will be an added advantage Expertise + Extensive knowledge of well design, drilling operations, completion technologies, and production optimization techniques + Proficient in using well planning and simulation software, as well as data analysis tools and project management tools + Proficiency in utilizing and integrating various software and digital tools for well engineering, ability to leverage data visualization, predictive analytics and machine learning to optimize Well performance would be an added advantage.
