Senior Windows System Administrator

Job Summary:

As a Senior Windows System Administrator, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our Windows Server infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and performance across our critical systems. This role will require advanced expertise in Windows Server administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, system management tools, and troubleshooting complex technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:

System Administration:Install, configure, and manage Windows Server operating systems across physical and virtual environments.Implement and maintain Active Directory user and group management, including security policies and access controls.Deploy and manage Group Policies for consistent system configurations across the network.Monitor server performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning strategies.Manage server patching and updates to maintain system security and stability.Perform routine system backups and disaster recovery testing to ensure data protection.Security Management:Implement and enforce security best practices on Windows servers, including hardening configurations and user access controls.Monitor for security threats and incidents, and respond effectively to mitigate risks.Collaborate with the security team to implement and maintain security policies and standards.Advanced Troubleshooting:Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to Windows Server operating systems, applications, and network connectivity.Analyze system logs and identify potential problems proactively.Provide technical support to other IT teams and end-users on Windows server related issues.Automation and Scripting:Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive tasks and streamline system management.Utilize system management tools to automate provisioning, patching, and configuration management.Project Leadership:Participate in planning and implementation of new Windows server infrastructure projects.Lead technical initiatives and provide expertise on Windows server technologies.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and system management tools.Expert knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2012, 2016, 2019, 2022).Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and firewalls.Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and identify root causes.Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell is essential.Strong working knowledge of Active Directory and FSMO RolesExperience migrating Active Directory services from on-premises to cloud-based solutions, such as AWS Directory Service or Azure AD.Knowledge of best practices for hybrid or cloud-only AD implementations.Hands-on experience with AWS services, including EC2, RDS, and S3.Demonstrated experience migrating workloads and systems from on-premises to AWS.Proven ability to design, implement, and optimize cloud-based solutions.Experience with AWS cloud management tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and AWS CLI.Hands-on experience with Jenkins or GitLab for implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines.Familiarity with hybrid cloud strategies and integrating on-premises systems with cloud environments.Experience managing and maintaining VMware virtualized environments, including deployment, configuration, and optimization of virtual machines and infrastructure.Familiarity with NetApp storage systems, including configuration, management, and troubleshooting.Knowledge of Druva data protection solutions, including setup, management, and maintenance of backup and disaster recovery systems.Experience working with Okta for identity and access management, including configuration of Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA).Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Ability to work independently, managing complex tasks with minimal supervision.Strong problem-solving skills and a results-oriented approach to project delivery.

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.San Carlos, CA $125,600—$157,200 USD
