Senior Writer, Credit Cards | Bankrate

Red Ventures needs a senior writer to cover credit cards for Bankrate’s consumer lending team. As a senior writer, you’ll cover credit cards in a variety of ways to help readers make better decisions about credit cards (from choosing them to using them and everything in between). You’ll write and update educational resource content already on the site, breaking credit card news, industry trends, and more. 

You’ll work with other writers, editors, and SEO experts on our team to conceptualize and execute on uniquely helpful ways to cover credit cards with a constant eye toward helping people use and navigate them smartly. In addition to following industry trends, you’ll also report and tell stories about regular people and their experiences with credit cards (from points and rewards to credit card debt), as well as experts inside and outside the company to better understand the industry on a path toward credit card expertise.

This role will help to identify content opportunities that have the potential to demonstrate a business impact on traffic, backlinks and/or brand mentions. Experience with social media strategy and/or multimedia video production is a plus but not required.

What You’ll Do:

Produce high-quality, well-researched content at a strong pace Stay up to date on industry news and trends to identify, pitch and write content opportunities that are likely to have a business impact Update existing content for timeliness and accuracy Write following AP style and brand voice and tone guidance Check story drafts for errors, typos and linking opportunities Use Asana, Google Sheets and our Content Management Systems as part of our editorial workflow for tracking and production Embrace opportunities to mentor growing writers Follow Compliance standards to ensure content is legally compliant before publishing

What We’re Looking For:

3+ years writing/editing experience Passion for content creation and a track record of coming up with innovative approaches to complicated topics Experience writing credit card content; alternatively, writing bylines at top publications with a strong knowledge of the credit card and personal finance space Deep familiarity and experience with Google’s evolving search landscape and an understanding of SEO best practices related to YMYL content and EEAT An innovative thinker who regularly pitches new ideas and content types Willingness to write about credit card products and/or rewards programs that you personally use and recommend A portfolio of personal finance writing samples that showcase attention to detail and accuracy Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities while keeping up with content production pace Experience meeting tight deadlines while working independently Ability to collaborate with editors, designers, SEO team members, project managers and publishers, as needed  Familiarity with AP style and compliance with brand style guides 

Compensation:

USA Compensation Range: $70,000-$90,000* New York City Compensation Range: $70,000- $108,000*
*Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
