Northrop Grumman is seeking a Electrical Engineer / Principal Electrical Engineer. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, Colorado and will support the Sentinel program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
What You’ll Get To Do:
Selected candidate will be responsible for the architecture, development, and delivery of multiple cable/harness engineering design solutions. This role provides the opportunity to be a technical expert, take ownership of the STE statement of work from concept design to product delivery, and to be one of the recognized Subject Matter Experts (SME’s) within the team for Cable and Harness. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
• Define and document electrical interconnects through coordination with system, subsystem, and unit engineers
• Pro-actively communicate across teams to negotiate interface requirements
• Incorporate project flow down requirements into the harness/cable design
• Prepare and present harness subsystem design, architecture and implementation plans at various design team meetings and reviews
• Assist in establishing harness/cable routing and segmentation
• Perform voltage drop analysis and capacitance studies
• Experience in RF transmission line analysis and performance
• Provide support to Manufacturing, Procurement, Lab Integration and Test

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications:
Electrical Engineer:
2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree in STEM; 0 years with a Masters;
Principal Electrical Engineer:
5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors Degree in STEM; 3 years with a Masters; 0 years with a PhD
Required for both levels:
US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
Familiarity with application of wire derating analysis
Knowledge of harness fabrication, component (back-shell, connector, cable and wire) selection and installation processes with hands-on experience
Familiarity to EMI/RF principles and their application to harness shielding
Parts, Materials and Processes support to electrical harness for power distribution, RF, communication and high-speed data signal applications
Demonstrated knowledge in parts, materials and process selection and manufacturing support
Fundamental understanding of wire gauge sizing and voltage drop analysis
Understanding of basic data signal types (MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, CAN etc.)
Basic circuit design analysis and electrical system sizing/protection as well as various wire shielding requirements
Experience with military aircraft avionics subsystems
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
US Citizenship with an Active Top-Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or Material Science with 5 years of relevant experience
Proficiency in design tools such as Microsoft Visio, RapidHarness, NX, AutoCAD, Capital
Prior experience in coordinating with multiple Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) within a dynamic program environment
Familiarity with industry cable and harness standards: IPC/WHMA-A-620, NASA-STD-8739.4 and AS50881
Experience with preparing and presenting oral and written reports
Familiarity with PM&P requirements per Aerospace TOR-2006(8583)-5235 / -5236
Experience with DoD architectures and Industry/Military Standards (e.g. MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-331, MIL-STD-1901A and Mil-STD-461)

Salary Range: $81,300.00 - $121,900.00Salary Range 2: $100,300.00 - $150,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
