Northrop Grumman’s Defense Systems sector is looking for a Principal/Sr Principal Software Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Sentinel program.
What You Will Get to Do:
As a Principal/Sr Principal Software Engineer, you will get to support Sentinel software initiatives and automated test engineering. This role demands a high level of accountability and leadership, with responsibilities including:
• Design, develop, document, test and debug real time embedded software/system simulation.
• Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of embedded systems for safety and mission critical software.
• Ensure program mandated software standards and compliance criteria are met.
• Understand and can develop in a continuous integration tool chain environment meeting technical and compliance requirements.
• Identify, analyze, and adjudicate software deficiencies.
• Assist a team of software engineers by mentoring, coaching, and providing technical expertise.
• Understand project milestones/timeline and provide accurate reporting metrics.
• Perform trade studies to determine efficacy of software architecture and design.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.
Basic Qualification:
• Principal Software Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 1 Years with PhD. (4 additional years in lieu of degree)
• Sr Principal Software Engineer: 8 Years with Bachelors in Science; 6 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD. (4 additional years in lieu of degree)
• Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with US Citizenship and an ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time.
• 5+ Years Experience developing software/writing code/software test in C/C++ AND Python
• Ability to work well in a team environment.
• Ability to effectively communicate issues and help provide solutions across teams/sites.
• Familiarity with Software development processes.
• Familiarity with Linux and shell commands.
• Familiarity in Object-Oriented Programming languages and/or Scripting languages.
• Familiarity with LabVIEW or similar graphical programming environment.
• Familiarity developing SW for a hardware target including custom serial and network data streams.
• Familiarity with Gitlab (or similar) code repository and management.
• Familiarity operating in an Agile environment using any of the Atlassian software tools sets (JIRA, Confluence).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Current Security+ Certification.
• Experience with integrating and testing embedded software.
• Experience with data analytics.
• Ability to assimilate information from multiple sources, create coherent plans, and then execute those plans.
• Ability to effectively communicate and present to project and program management, other technical managers and customers.
• Experience with database structures.
• Experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
• Experience in test automation tools and procedures.
• Experience in analyzing software requirements and developing software tests.
• Experience with IBM Engineering Test Management (ETM).

Salary Range: $95,300.00 - $142,900.00Salary Range 2: $118,600.00 - $178,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
