Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Aeronautical Engineer. This position will be with our Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector located in Roy, UT. The primary job responsibilities are, but not limited, to the following:
What you'll get to do:
• Develop, perform and document tests, includes test planning, test conduction, data analysis and documenting test results
• Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for missile system payloads
• Verify specifications and designs through testing, test data processing, and support modeling and simulation and performance analysis
• Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal
• Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements
• Create technical reports and present test and analysis results
• Provide laboratory support for integration testing.
• Support and host test planning working groups.
• Interface with test article design and analysis teams at our teammates and major suppliers to define test configuration and data requirements.
• Contribute to test development and review in collaboration with other engineering disciplines and test operations personnel.
• Conduct test readiness reviews, and pre/post-test briefings.
• RV separation and spin-up error modeling, including modeling and simulation, statistical analysis of demonstrated population, interfacing with subcontractor, monitoring planned ground tests for separation mechanism, possibly arranging for flight tests of separation mechanism
• Atmosphere error modeling, including GRAM runs, error covariances/correlations, perturbed fly downs, miss coefficient generation,
accuracy statistics, etc.
• RV drag error modeling, including modeling and simulation, accuracy analysis, etc.
• RV lift event error modeling, including modeling and simulation, accuracy analysis, etc.
• RV accuracy tool updates and configuration control
• Fuze modeling
• Flight test planning and execution
• Reentry plasma modeling and link closure, including physics modeling, applying flight test experience, etc.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine- hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
• 12 years of relevant experience with a Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics: 10 years with a Masters; 8 years with a Phd
• US Citizenship with an Active Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification.
• Hands-on Integration and Test experience
• Experience in Test Plan and Test Report writing
• Experience in the field supporting Test activities
• Ability to travel as needed
• Experience conducting structural testing
Preferred Qualifications
• A Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering
• US Citizenship with an Active Top-Secret Clearance or higher (awarded within the past 6 years) with the ability to receive a Special Access Program (SAP) certification
• Experience in laboratory facility design, including laboratory floor layouts, test hardware, test software, test stations, test sets, and network architectures
• Experience with cost estimation support
• Experience with hardware/software requirements documents writing
• Experience with hardware/software security requirements writing
• Experience in laboratory integration and check-out
• Experience in Risk Reduction
• Experience in DoD or aerospace product development and manufacturing
• Experience utilizing CPLM for configuration management
• Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
• In depth knowledge of or flight test experience, to include control room monitoring, in one of the following disciplines: Payloads, Mission Systems, or Subsystems

Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
