What you'll do: You'll direct the work of assigned detention officers and be responsible for the custody and discipline of persons in the facility in compliance with MTC and   customer directives. 

Essential Duties:

Supervise, protect, instruct, train, counsel and evaluate assigned employees. Provide for the care, custody, and adherence to rules and regulations of detainees assigned to specific work area. Supervise and provide custody and security of detainees including observation of detainees and detainees assigned to work duty which includes long periods of sitting and standing. Supervise and direct searches for contraband including ‘pat’ and ‘strip’ searches, by squatting and bending to perform such functions. Transfer and transport detainees by walking or riding in vehicles; restrain and secure assaultive detainees as needed. Read, review, and properly apply information found in detainee records which is related to the detainee’s health and safety and to the security of the facility; provide appropriate information to other personnel. Supervise the preparation and maintenance of records, forms, and reports. Perform specific duties if assigned to the following areas: housing unit, administration segregation and intake.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent (GED). Two (2) years’ correctional custody or law enforcement experience required. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Must successfully complete required pre-service training. A valid driver’s license in the state of New Mexico or Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management. Must successfully complete all annual in-service requirements and maintain appropriate facility clearance.
