Job Title: Serology Technician
Location: Elkmont, AL
Salary: $17.00 per hour, with a $2.00 per hour incentive for weekend shifts (rarely required)
Hours:
Start times: 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM, with typical end times around 4:30 PM.Extended hours on Thursday and Friday.Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Serology Technician to join our team. This role involves processing and analyzing samples collected from farms under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Lead Technician or their designee. The ideal candidate will ensure that all program and procedures are followed in accordance with company guidelines, maintaining high quality while working efficiently and cost-effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain a sufficient inventory of supplies to avoid work delays.Accurately process and analyze samples in a timely manner.Follow laboratory work instructions and procedures.Prepare media and solutions required for laboratory use.Enter sample data and results into the data management system.Adhere to company policies and procedures related to bio-security, animal welfare, safety, ISO requirements, and drug/alcohol policies.Ensure the purity and security of samples to prevent contamination, loss, or damage.Attend work as scheduled, including potential weekend rotations, though weekend work is rare.Work Experience
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent.Basic computer skills, including creating documents and spreadsheets.Ability to communicate effectively via email.Must apply common sense understanding to achieve daily and weekly goals and adapt to changing testing needs as requested by supervisors or veterinarians.Desired Qualifications:
Previous laboratory experience is preferred but not required.Willingness to work occasional weekends as part of a rotation, although this is not a frequent requirement.Personal Attributes:
