Job Title: Service Engineer Pay Grade: T3 Job Description: The Service Engineer provides assistance to Allison distributors, dealers, OEMs and fleet customers in the troubleshooting, servicing and repairing of transmissions, support equipment and their control systems. The Service Engineer also provides assistance to the Allison global Customer Support, Quality and Sales organizations as a subject matter expert for the products supported. Key Responsibilities: + Perform investigation and analysis on failed transmissions and/or parts + Develop and lead investigative plan for emerging or major issues + Support global Allison Customer Support, Sales and Quality organizations as needed with on-site troubleshooting, inspection, and data collection + Prepare technical documents to inform service network of product issues, product updates and releases + Draft or update Service publications + Create and perform specialized training as needed + Provide Customer Support representation on any required internal teams + Support special tool design + Support warranty review as needed + Support Allison Technical Assistance Center (TAC) personnel Key Performance Measures: + On-time release of new/updated service publications, per cross-functional plan + Timely assistance in resolution of escalated TAC cases, that drives regular improvement in Customer Satisfaction Index survey results + Employee represents voice of customer on cross-functional teams through entering/managing new initiatives and driving emerging issues to resolution Competencies and Behaviors: + Is widely trusted by others to deliver on what they commit to in a timely manner + Is transparent in their interactions and intentions + Represents the Company’s best interest at all times + Acts with internal and external customers in mind + Practices active listening to understand stakeholder needs + Builds positive relationships within team settings + Learns and adapts quickly when facing new problems + Is seen as a team player and cooperates with others within and outside own functional area and puts personal interests aside to achieve goals + Participates in cross-functional teams to achieve work objectives Qualifications: + Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical) or a technical field (such as automotive) + 5+ years’ experience in related field Experience: + Strong technical knowledge and hands-on experience with heavy-duty vehicles, automatic transmissions, or similar heavy-duty components/systems preferred + Proficiency in English language; written and verbal + Knowledge of failure mode analysis and problem-solving techniques + Strong analytical skills + Ability to make decisions independently, with appropriate level of guidance + Strong organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision Primary Location: Indianapolis, IN Additional Locations: Allison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
