Job Summary
Temple University’s Service Mechanics are the primary customer response personnel for general interior building maintenance issues. Successful candidates will possess a strong customer service orientation and a focus on quality and safety, be mechanically proficient, and have experience in general building maintenance practices. Reporting to the Service Mechanics’ Facilities Manager, the Service Mechanics are part of Operations and Maintenance and work with the skilled trades to provide an optimal learning and research environment for the Temple community. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
* Trade school degree in related craft required.
* Five (5) years of general maintenance experience in a commercial or educational environment with demonstrated electrical, plumbing, and carpentry skills are required.
* An equivalent combination of acceptable training and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities
* Ability to travel between campus work sites.
* Ability to be a team player and work towards common goals promptly and constructively.
* Can prioritize urgent projects and work in a fast-paced and challenging work environment.
* Capacity to work independently without constant supervision.
* Ability to work overtime as required.
* Ability to operate all hand and power tools, including power saws, power drills, and various power equipment, ladders, and elevated work platforms.
Preferred
* Experience in working in high-rise buildings and knowledge of building codes.
