The Service Subject Matter Expert (SME) blends the core technical position with additional focus on peer coaching & basic training, complex instrument/ application escalations, and Service project support activities.  SME’s will spend time planning and executing preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration/verification of instrumentation for Hach process and laboratory instrumentation. As part of routine Service scheduling, the associate may be the designated resource for difficult problems and/ or complex products. In addition, the SME will assist in mentoring/ training actions, and project focused activities. 


In this role, a typical day will look like: 

Meeting all essential duties and responsibilities of the Field Service Technician (FST)

Responsible for the delivery of daily work excellence and high performance against established business metrics and related objectives

Leading Field based training (basic and advanced) of new and tenured staff pertaining to instrument, application, and process management best practices and standard work adherence

Building and maintaining strong relationship with customers, peers, cross-functional team members and leadership

Understanding customer needs and dedicated to exceeding customer expectations

The essential requirements of the job include: 

BS degree/diploma or equivalent experience. 

Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Field Service Engineer ideally in the Water Industry. 

Willingness and flexibility to travel long distances and lodge away from home ( 4-6 nights a month when required to fulfill required duties)

Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.
