Service Technician (Shift Engineer)

JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

\n

This varied and busy role will involve routine and reactive repair as well as general maintenance of the building and its assets. As part of the Engineering department, you will assist the team that looks after our customers both internal and externally.

\n

RESPONSIBILITIES 

\n\nCarry out assigned tasks, including physical duties such as; lifting and transporting furniture and other equipment, climbing ladders, working in enclosed areas and pushing trolleys.\nRepair and maintain all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, kitchen and heating systems and associated equipment within the hotel in close co-ordination with the engineering leadership team.\nRespond to internal job request system (HOSTOS) in a timely manner.\nInspect/repair/log plumbing deficiencies in all areas of the hotel.\nWork from the daily hand over reports which have been assigned by your manager and provide feedback when the work is completed.\nCheck and maintain the efficiency of the hotel’s systems, plant and equipment.\nInform your manager about equipment deficiencies, relevant stock control and spare parts as necessary.\nComply with all systems, procedures and company policies.\nBe pro-active in developing your individual skills.\nBe self-motivated and perform to the highest level.\nEnsure you regularly attend communication meetings held within the department.\nEnsure planned training is completed.\nEnsure communication between Engineering and all other areas of the hotel is professional, efficient and thorough. \nRespond to and manage departmental change as required by the hotel, Hilton, government legislation or industry trends.\nEnsuring your grooming are in line with hotel policy.\nRespond to and manage departmental change as required by the hotel, Hilton, government legislation or industry trends.\nAssist with sustainability programs and drive projects to meet Hilton’s objectives.\nAny other duties assigned by the Assistant Chief Engineer/ Chief Engineer / General Manager.\nCo-ordinate and assist all external contractors as necessary.\nKeep the workshop clean and tidy.\nPerform call out and other duties which may be assigned to you.\nFlexible rostering as the business requires on rotating shifts.\nRespond directly to guest maintenance requests.\nAlways have the guest and their comfort in mind in relations to your role and impact as Service Technician.\nBe respectful of our guest’s privacy ensuring their every request in this regard is strictly adhered to and their details remain confidential.\nAdhere to departmental operating expenses as laid out by your manager.\n

THE PERSON – QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

\n\nPassionate, innovative, exciting initiatives delivered with consistency and excellent attention to detail\nPositive attitude and willingness to be involved and interact with the overall Hilton team both at an individual and team level\nElectrical, Mechanical or Plumbing/Gas Fitter trade qualified advantageous\nFluent in the English language in order to communicate professionally with guests and team members\nCommitted to personal development\nHigh attention to detail, flexible and efficient\nThe ability to work at a fast pace both autonomously and as part of a team\nAbility to train and develop team members.\n
