NOW HIRING a Set-Up Technician at our Kalamazoo, MI location!

 

 

Role:  The primary function is to safely install all tooling on large machinery as required to produce quality thermoformed products. Other responsibilities could include preparation or setup of special tooling for test runs, cleaning tooling as needed and review of potential tooling designs. The technician must be able to participate as a team member or operate independently depending on department needs.

 

Pay: Starting at $27.31/HR

 

Schedule/Hours: Monday-Friday, 5am-2pm

Responsibilities

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Responsible for the changeovers/ setups from the initial tooling installation. Set up all process conditions/adjustmentsResponsible for assembly, installation and alignment of tooling into equipment as neededResponsible for the preparation, maintenance and modification of all tooling (molds, trim tools and lip roller tooling) as required to produce quality thermoformed productsRead blueprints, use precision type instruments, such as micrometers and calipers, and operate all machine shop equipment (lathes, surface grinders, etc.)Responsible for completing required documentation (SAP work orders, purchase requisitions, etc.) to help identify equipment deficiencies and to ensure the proper supply of parts/suppliesMust be team oriented with leadership qualities capable of teaching others technical detailsDemonstrate proficiency at troubleshooting all setup related issues for flaws that may lead to poor product quality or shorten the life span of the tooling and/or the equipmentMaintain a clean, safe working environmentMust be self-starting, disciplined, team-oriented with capabilities of working with others in assigned tasks and meeting deadlinesMust be capable of safely operating a lift truckMust be able to safely start and stop any KFT2 and KT4 forming linesOther duties as necessary

Operate Equipment:

Demonstrates ability to utilize standard hand toolsAbility to operate thermoforming equipment and peripherals

 

Maintain Records: Ability to accurately record and maintain information as required.

 

Maintenance/Repair:

Demonstrates basic mechanical aptitude and abilitiesDemonstrates ability to troubleshoot and efficiently identify appropriate course of action Qualifications

Education & Experience:

Three to Five years’ experience in extrusion/thermoforming Must be a LVL 4 OP or higherHigh school graduate or equivalentSpeaking and presentation skills to conduct effective meetingsPretest for mechanical aptitude, spatial relationships Capable of working with minimum supervision and maintain high degree of technical proficiencySetup and tooling experience desired but not required Ability to read blueprints desired but not requiredMath/trigonometry ability CAD and computer skills desired but not required
