**Job Description** **Position Title:** Settlements Analyst I, II, or III **OPEN UNTIL FILLED** **Department/Location:** Financial Services/Bismarck, ND **Company:** Basin Electric Power Cooperative **Position Purpose:** Responsible for ensuring Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and Dakota Gasification Company (DGC) is receiving optimal value for its resources in the energy sector. Support the confirmation, reconciliation, and settlement of certain energy transactions related to natural gas agreements, renewable agreements, and wholesale power transactions for BEPC and DGC. **Essential Functions:** + Assist with the checkout process of gas purchase and sales contracts to ensure accurate settlement of transactions. + Assist with the settlement of wind purchase power agreements with numerous counterparties such as validating curtailments and providing calculations for the counterparties to confirm. + Assist with the settlement of short-term transmission, energy and capacity transactions. + Complete monthly billing. + Investigate abnormalities in market activities to determine causes and develop solutions to resolve or improve market activities. + Support the development and expansion of data and systems related to Market analysis functions. + Project assignments and ad-hoc requests for data and analysis to support Energy Markets and reporting processes. **Qualifications** **:** **Settlements Analyst I:** + Bachelor’s degree in a business, or mathematics related; or + Associate’s degree in business or mathematics related; and 2 years of related experience. **Settlements Analyst II:** + Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, mathematics or related field; and 3 years performing increasingly more complex and technical accounting and finance related analyses; or + Associates degree in business, finance, mathematics or related field; and 5 years increasingly more complex and technical accounting and finance related analyses; and + **Experience in the following preferred:** utility/energy industry; settlements; market trading using Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) systems; regulatory reporting or related commodity experience. **Settlements Analyst III:** + Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, mathematics or related field; and 5 years performing increasingly more complex and technical accounting and finance related analyses; or + Associates degree in business, finance, mathematics or related field; and 7 years increasingly more complex and technical accounting and finance related analyses; and + **Experience in the following preferred:** the utility/energy industry; settlements; market trading using Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) systems; regulatory reporting or related commodity experience. **Other Requirements:** + Independent learner with curiosity about energy market dynamics. + Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and written. + Able to establish and maintain effective working relationship. + Proficient with personal computers, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. + Detail oriented. + Able to resolve discrepancies. + Good quantitative, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. + Able to work well in a team-oriented environment, meeting deadlines, and working together to achieve company-wide objectives. + Resume required. **Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:** This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds.
