**Job Description** **Position Title:** Settlements Analyst II or III **OPEN UNTIL FILLED** **Department/Location:** Financial Services/Bismarck, ND **Company:** Basin Electric Power Cooperative **Position Purpose:** Responsible for ensuring Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) and Dakota Gasification Company (DGC) is receiving optimal value for its resources. Works independently to oversee the confirmation, reconciliation and settlement of certain energy transactions related to renewable agreements capacity, and generation. This position performs detailed analysis of the calculation of the energy related transaction settlement amounts and in determining and reconciling any discrepancies. **Essential Functions:** + Review and validate the settlement of Purchase Power Agreements (PPA) this includes energy and capacity. + Oversee the settlement of solar and wind purchase power agreements with numerous counterparties. This includes validating and providing calculations for the counterparties to confirm. + Provide accurate electric energy transaction data using the Independent System Operator (ISO) settlement system to be used in monthly billings to counterparties. + Build effective working relationships with traders, counterparties, and other internal departments known as Front, Middle, and Back offices. This would include providing feedback to help guide the Marketing group. + Assist in formulating processes and procedures to effectively fulfill the responsibilities of the Settlements section of the Controller division. **Qualifications** **:** **Settlements Analyst II:** + Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, mathematics or related field; and 3 years performing increasingly more complex and technical accounting and finance related analyses; or + Associates degree in business, finance, mathematics or related field; and 5 years increasingly more complex and technical accounting and finance related analyses. **Settlements Analyst III:** + Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, mathematics or related field; and 5 years performing increasingly more complex and technical accounting and finance related analyses; or + Associates degree in business, finance, mathematics or related field; and 7 years increasingly more complex and technical accounting and finance related analyses. **Other Requirements:** + Knowledge of mathematics and business practices. + **Experience in the following preferred:** utility/energy industry; settlements; market trading using Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) systems; regulatory reporting or related commodity experience. + Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. + Good interpersonal skills, able to influence and build relationships as a participant in a team environment. + Self-motivated, and proactive. + Excellent attention to detail and the ability to resolve discrepancies. + Good quantitative, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. + Able to work well in a team-oriented, collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines and working together to achieve company-wide objectives. + Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills such as queries, pivot tables, and formulas, and proficiency with other Microsoft Office products. + Good written and verbal communication skills that enable effective communication. + Resume required. + The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job.
